Hello folks! March was a doozy of a month flying by quicker than we could keep up, but that’s fine because we got a lot done despite the crazy pace of the month!
Easter was a blast! We had our dad’s parents, his sister and her husband, our older sister Kayla and brother-in-law Phil, Rissy’s boyfriend, our older sister Cass, our parents, and us three for the meal at 4! Which was fun and then about 10 minutes after the last person had left (Kayla and Phil), around 8 that evening our brother Matt and his wife got off work and showed up! So we got to visit with them as well! Which was great!
Anyway, down to the updates now!

Every month we send out exclusive sneak peeks of our WIPs! There will be one for The Dragon Prince Chronicles book 4 as well as any projects the three of us are working on by ourselves! We’re also announcing our hopeful publishing schedule for 2024-25! so, if you want to know what to expect from the three of us in the coming months you should probably subscribe if you haven’t yet!
Kayti
I’m back to working at home! Which is nice because I get to hang out with Rissy and Jaidie for most of the day while I work! Nothing like chatting with your sisters to pass the time. (I mean, minus Jaidie shoving her tablet in my face to look at art or read what she wrote…lol…)
Emberling has been fully edited by Madisyn Carlin at Mountain Peak Edit & Design, and I’m so excited to share this story with you guys in the future! (That may or may not be one of the updates in the newsletter!) Jaidie has been talking out cover designs with me and let me tell you…she’s got such epic ideas for this cover and I can’t wait!
My novella Rose of Fate released in The Black Rose Collection and I am just stoked that this story is out in the world now! The whole collection is just awesome!
Project W is officially a novel! Yay! I had to go back to the beginning and start realigning the plot again because once again my pantser brain said, “I have a better idea!”…lol…so it was back to square one. This rewrite hasn’t been too hard and has mostly been a lot of fun! Hoping to finish it up in the next little bit so I can actually start writing again!
Rissy
I’ve been trying to settle on my next WIP…I’ve started one or two, reviewed some old ideas, but so far nothing much is clicking. I did start a short story this week, as much as I hate writing short stories, and that was going okay. I’m just trying to get the creative juices flowing again, you know?
I’ve also begun edits on Stoneflake’s Bane! Which I’m excited about! We’ve set a tentative release day that will be in the newsletter next week. I think it’s too far out, Kayti says it’s not and I can move it forward if we finish everything early but she wants to make sure we have enough time and since the weekends, between her work, my school, and then hanging out with my boyfriend are the only time we have…it’s a bit tricky to get all the editing done…lol…so far we have chapter 1 and part of chapter 2 done!
Jaidie
*walks into room where Kayti is listening to ‘Leaves from the Vine’…now is sniffling at the cute images of Zuko and his uncle, “I’m not crying, I just have a bug in both my eyes, at the same time that are irritating me equally.” (bonus points if someone knows what that’s from, and it’s not Avatar: The Last Airbender)*
What have you guys been up to? *shoves Avatar fanart into a corner* I’ve been writing, reading *tosses blanket over HTTYD box set she bought on impulse*, and doodling, totally not spending between 4 and 8 hours on a single picture. *coughs*
But in the news of productiveness…. I finished drafting Project BD!!!! Eeep! I’m so excited about my second MG contemporary! I had so much fun crafting the story and it was my fastest drafting process yet! I finished in 2 months! 31k in 2 months! I’m just as mindblown as you, maybe more so…lol…
I’ve also read like 8 books since the beginning of the year which is AMAZING for my dyslexic brain! Like a new record! I think I read 20 books, maybe in all of last year, so this is a great start for me! *grins*
Sisters Three
Well, let’s see…we rewatched seasons 1 through 3 of All Creatures Great and Small and watched season 4 which was so good! Then we rewatched the live action Avatar: The Last Airbender…*ahem* It’s pretty good and now we’re rewatching the animated series *coughs, slightly obsessed*. The elemental powers are cool, okay? Also, the characters are just so well developed and amazing!
There will be more news on DPC 4 in the newsletter, including a clip, but for now just know we have finally gotten our groove back for the time being! In the last week of March we wrote almost 1k every evening! Which was so great! The story is moving along nicely!
Also, our Sunday afternoon world building…we got to do that once in March because every other Sunday was crazy busy or Jaidie’s creative juices for making designs in our world building notebook were gone…so, yeah, but we are still working on the series! Though we’re not sure if it will be the next thing we write or not? There’s a lot of world building left to do and a lot of moving parts to the story as it has 4 POVs!
Conclusion
So, yeah, we’ve been busy as always but we’re super excited to spend April celebrating Jaidie! Eeep! She’s got a birthday! We’ll be heading down to McKays (the most awesome used book store) for her B-day and we’re super excited about that! Would you guys like to see a book haul from Kayti and Jaidie at the end of the month? (Rissy does audio books when she gets time to listen).
Also, again, if you aren’t on the newsletter you should sign up because we’re going to have some fun info in there! And if you are subbed thank you! And is there anything you’d like to see from us?
How have you been? Is spring coming? Do you like buying used books? How productive was the month of March for you?
Let us know in the comments!
