Hello everyone! *Percy leans away from the mic* “Is this thing on?”

*Kayti gives him a thumbs up*

*Percy clears throat* “Hello everyone and welcome back to Sisters Three where the authors write stories of hope, purpose, and adventure, though lets be honest the adventure takes over 9 times out of 10 and—“

“Percy!” *Kayti glares*

*Percy sighs* “Right, today we are back with another Know the Novel post which Kayti has done for the next book in The Chronicles of Uriu, the series she won’t stop talking about and thus is driving everyone insane.”

“Fudgebottom!”

“Right, I’ll hand the mic to Kayti now.” *Percy dashes of stage*

*Kayti waves*

Hey guys, so here’s the second Know the Novel post about book 3 – Project S! Emberling releases in 4 days! 4 DAYS! And you can snag a paperback copy of Emberling!

Ebooks can be pre-ordered here so you can read it as soon as it’s available!

Anyway, let’s get into details about book 3!

1. How’s the writing going overall?

Well, I really just started this week…I had to finish up edits on Waveling (Book 2 in the series) before I could start Project S. But I have over 6k already so I’d say it’s going great!

Though I had hopped to start earlier in the month, but obviously that didn’t work out.

2. What’s been the most fun aspect of writing this novel so far?

I think my answer will forever be building different cultures…lol…I love world building! I’m developing the dwarves and the giants in Project S and it has been so much fun to watch their worlds take shape! To get to see their customs both and good and bad ones and figure out how everything will pan out in the long run.

I think my favorite culture aspect for the dwarves is that fact that they ride dragons! XD I’m in love with that idea!

3. What do you think of your characters at this point? Who’s your favorite to write about?

Wow, loaded question. They are behaving for the most part….Vyk has decided to have some severe anxiety issues, but I think he’ll participate for the rest of the book…hopefully. And Alastair has decided on his backstory (sad much) and now I have to figure out the best way to write a bitter, mournful, middle-aged man. XD

My favorite to write about at this point would have to be a tie between Channyn and Evander. Both of them are super easy. Evander because he literally says the first thing that comes to mind and Channyn because she only has slightly more tact than him and tends to take offense at almost everything. XD She’s a very stubborn person too.

4. Has your novel surprised you in any way?

Not really, I mean, I’m only 6k in so that will definitely change. But so far it is going pretty much like the scenes in my head were lined up. I mean minus Alastair making his backstory about 10 times sadder…*rolls eyes*

5. Have you come across any problem areas?

My biggest problem area was deciding what to title it, because that determined what character the prologue would be about. My original title wasn’t vibing for me, so I changed it, thus changing up the prologue and the order of the chapters that came after that…it’s been…interesting to play around with.

I finally nailed down the chapter order on Tuesday after changing it about 3 times, so, yeah. XD

6. What’s been your biggest victory with writing this novel at this point?

That I got the prologue written in one sitting and didn’t have to change it! XD Seriously, Waveling’s Prologue and first chapter changed about 5 times before I settled on what felt right for the story. So, not having to fix either of those in Project S has been a relief.

I’ve jumped right into the story with almost 4 chapters done already!

7. If you were transported into your novel and became any one of the characters, which one do you think you’d be? Would you take any different actions than they have?

I’d say…uh, hard one, but I’d probably be Lagoa…and at this point I wouldn’t do anything differently. Only because her chapter is only half written. XD That is liable to change though. XD

8. Give us the first sentence or paragraph then 2 (or 3!) more favorite snippets!

Okay! I’ll give the first paragraph because it’s short and then two extra clips. How does that sound? I’m loving diving back into Uriu!

And here’s another snippet from the prologue and Evander’s POV. Evander is interesting to write because he’s a giant and there culture has a slight Roman inspiration with gladiator like games, so I leaned into that by throwing in some latin words, such as Pater which means Father.

And this one is from Alastair’s POV and is chapter 3, it’s his first chapter and he’s already asking hard questions! I’m scared y’all!:

9. Share an interesting tidbit about the writing process so far! (For example: Have you made any hilarious typos? Derailed from your outline? Killed off a character? Changed projects entirely? Anything you want to share!)

Um, wow…honestly I’m trying to think of something interesting but I got nothing…

10. Take us on a tour of what a normal writing day for this novel looks like. Where do you write? What time of day? Alone or with others? Is a lot of coffee (or some other drink) consumed? Do you light candles? Play music? Get distracted by social media (*cough, cough*)? Tell all!

I usually write at my desk between 10:30 and 11:15 at night or out on the porch in the afternoon, if work permits. But I’ll take five or ten minutes of writing time wherever I can get it. 😉 If I’m writing during the day Jaidie is usually nearby working on her own WIP, which you can out more about here!

I drink water…and I’m always listening to music. XD Either my playlist for Project S, instrumental, or Jaidie’s playlist for her project which doesn’t go with Project S at all…lol…but I make it work.

And yes, sometimes I get distracted by Instagram or chatting with friends.

Conclusion:

That’s a wrap folks! I’m super excited to introduce you to characters from Emberling next week and the world of Uriu as part of Emberling’s release tour! So be sure to stick around for more fun!

How is your writing going this Nano? Are you fantasy person or do you like another genre more? Do you like world-building? Let me know in the comments!

Hi yes major fantasy fan here! *flails arm in the air* It’s my FAVE. And this was so great hearing more about your novel! That is wonderful the beginning went so smoothly. As someone who struggles with opening, I feel your pain. It’s always the best feeling when the opening actually comes together! And EEP. That snippet of the opening. I am HOOKED. I loved all the snippets. So much emotion! This just sounds so incredible all the way around.

    Also.

Dwarves that ride dragons???? YES PLEASE.

What an epic story! I hope the writing continues to go well! Thank you so much for joining part 2 of Know the Novel!
