The Great Book Haul of 2024!

Hey folks! It’s Kayti and Jaidie and Percy on Sisters Three!

“Percy Fudgerbottom, here live at Sisters Three with all the latest news! It seems that some books have been stolen…”

“No, Percy, bought, the books were bought.” *Kayti and Jaidie smile tightly*

*Percy clears frowns and turns back to camera* “As I was saying, some books have been rehomed.” *glares as if daring someone to contradict him* “And we’re here to introduce you to these precious tombs. To enlighten you to these jewels. To…”

“Yeah, yeah, we get it.” *Jaidie shoves Percy out of the room and locks door* “That guy, am I right?”

*Kayti nods and they both turn to the audience*

We got to go to our favorite used bookstore! McKays! It’s awesome you guys and while there we got some books! (obviously…lol…) We also swung by Barnes and Noble and guess what…we got more books! Who would have guessed…lol…

Then we went on Amazon and…GOT MORE BOOKS! But those aren’t here yet, so we don’t have pics…Jaidie is going to go first with her books, heads up there will be some Tolkien geeking out going on, you have been warned.

*waves at adoring fans and bows dramatically, only to realize as she rises that no one but Percy is there*

Ahem, anyway. As aforementioned it was my birthday sometime there at the end of April. *winks* So we went book shopping. So enjoy some pictures of my books and Kayti’s insanely cool hat…lol…

So, I’ve been reading the How to Train Your Dragon series and Kayti found this cool ‘extra’ book for the series at McKays so I just had to snag it! Plus, it was hard cover and a really good deal. 😉
Then Rissy found Hatchet *ahem* lots of them actually and decided to drop a copy in my basket of books because she likes the book and said I should read it…lol…thus how I ended up with these two because of my sisters. 😉

If you’ve hung around mine and Kayti’s Goodreads accounts you might have noticed we like Gordon Korman books…lol…Kayti listened to the audio of these two and said they were really good! So I picked up Slacker (hardcover) at Mckays for 3 buck! 3 bucks! It looks great too! Probably was a mistake but I’m not gonna question it…lol…
And then I got a copy of Linked from B&N and paid more for it than I did for Slacker…lol…but I did get half off on my expensive Tolkien book because of a sale, so I”m happy. Kayti ignored me trying to tell her about the sell stickers and missed out…lol…maybe she’ll listen to me next time and not go into a book coma again. XD

And the treasure of this trip! My Tolkien books! Eeep! I was so happy with these!
First, the Tolkien Reader I found at Mckays for 7 bucks, but it was brand new! Like brand NEW! I’m so excited to read this one! My brother had a copy I was going to read but I’m glad to have my own copy!
Next, The Children of Hurin! Ack! This story! I read it in The Unfinished Tales and it tore my heart out and stomped on it and destroyed me, but it was missing a good chunk out of the middle, so I bought a completed edition to go cry over…lol…Kayti knows all the spoilers for it because I could not keep it to myself…if you want to have your heart broken I highly recommend giving it a read. It destroyed me and yet…strangely, I love it!
And last, but in no way least, The Silmarillion! Eeek! My bestie Amber got me this for my B-day! IT’s the watercolor cover guys! I’ve been dying to have this copy! And it’s illustrated! Like…*mind blown* IT IS AWESOME! I can’t wait to read it and dive into all the history and lore behind Middle Earth! My brother said I should have read it before the Unfinished Tales…but, ooops…lol…

Anyway, now you can go look at Kayti’s boring books. XD

Hey guys! I got a lot of books! 21 to be exact, one book for every year of my life…lol…so I’m excited to showcase all these beauties for y’all!

First up, Swiss Family Robinson! We used to own this exact copy and dad read it aloud to all us kids! So I had to snag it when I found it for 75 cents!
And then several people have mentioned The Calico Captive to me so I decided to snag this almost brand new copy of it!

I found this rediscovered writing of Laura INgalls Wilder and I had to get it! If you don’t know, which you probably don’t, I’m a Laura Ingalls Wilder fan! Like, have read the books probably 20+ times and I’ve read all sorts of books about Laura and her family, etc…love it! So I had to get this book when I saw it was 3 bucks!

I got the first 4 books in the Meet the Austen’s Series! I *ahem* enjoy The Winkle in Time series, don’t judge…so I’m excited to read this other series that connects to it! And maybe one day I can finally get all the books in both series…lol…

Alright, I got Linked at B&N and loved this book! So good! Slacker was got at B&N too and that one is hilarious!
The other books are from Mckays! Insignificant Events in the Life of a Cactus is a good book! And then Ban this Book and Left Out are books I’ve wanted to read for a while. Left Out because it’s about a deaf football player, and it’s actually my current read…lol…
And then Deep Water looked too interesting to pass up so I snagged it because why not!

Lines of Courage was a B&N buy and I’m super excited to read this Neilsen book!
Crispin and the Lead Cross is a good book and it was a good deal at Mckays. And then Don’t Tell the Nazis is a really good book too!
Winterkill is one I’ve been wanting to read and the book in the back is Escape from Chernobyl and it sounded pretty intense/interesting so I picked it up, cause once again, why not…lol…

And last but in no way least, these stunning copies of Jane Auesten’s Pride & Prejudice, Sense & Sensibility, and Persuasion! They had Emma too in a lovely lavender, but I have a copy of Emma that I haven’t read yet, so I didn’t get it but I plan to read Emma this summer and snag that lovely lavender copy later if I enjoy it!
Anyway, I love the faux leather looks and the intricate vines and flowers…just gorgeous!!! I love them so much and have them on my desk at the moment!

Anyway, there’s our book haul! Have you read any of these books? Do you like book shopping? Have you been to a Mckays? If so, aren’t they awesome!

Have a great weekend!

YAAY FOR BOOK HAUL AND USED BOOKS!!!!! Seriously, though, used books/bookstores have become like one of my favorite things ever!! Hatchet is REALLY good, Jaidie!!! Rissy was smart for making you get it, lol. (Speaking of, Rissy, if you like Hatchet, you should try Woods Runner from the author. It’s a historical fiction set during the American Revolution. I read it recently and might have even enjoyed it more than Hatchet.) Kayti, those Jane Austen books are GORGEOUS!!!! *heart eyes* I’ve only read Pride and Prejudice from her, but I’m currently in the middle of Emma! I hope y’all enjoy your books!!!

What a fun post this was to read! That book store sounds amazing. I don’t know what book stores, if any, we have in my area. 😂 I’m scared to find them and spend way to much money 😂 Those Tolkien booksssss ahh such beautiful covers! And yes the Children of Hurin absolutely destroyed me me and yet I love it!! I read it on its own and then read the Silmarillion later on and yes you must read COH in its entirety. It’s one of those stories that is utterly tragic yet so well written you can’t help but love it. And those Austin books are lovely as well. The only Austin book I’ve actually read is Pride and Prejudice. The others have been on my TBR forever and I’ll get to them “eventually”. My parents have them all in beautifully old fashioned hard cover editions.

Thank you so much! Haha, right!? McKays is almost 2hrs from us..lol…if you don’t want to spend too much money don’t go to a McKays…the books are cheap, which is good and bad, because you just buy a bunch instead of a few. XD
I know, right!? I love them! Ack, I know right? I was sobbing but loved it at the same time! I can’t waiting to read the full edition! ~Jaidie
Yes, they’re so pretty! I’ve only read P&P and S&S, Persausion is a new one for me…lol…That’s how I feel about all the books on my tbr…haha…oooo, awesome! ~Kayti
