Hey guys! I’m a day late and half a dollar short as we say round here…lol…but I do have a blog post for yens this week! I hope you enjoy learning more about my newly finished YA fantasy novella…
Stoneflake’s Bane!
I’m excited to be editing this story now and hoping to release it sometime in the near future…maybe in the early months of next year? Or sooner if editing moves swiftly…lol…we’ll see. *grins*
Rules
Link back to the creator of the tag: luluslibrary.com
Add the tag graphic somewhere in your post. (No idea what happened to that…so we’ll be skipping that…)
Answer each question while successfully dodging spoilers.
Include a clean set of the rules and questions at the bottom of your post. (Ooops, didn’t do that sorry!)
Tag as many people as you want! (Also didn’t do that…I was in a hurry, okay…)
And here’s the questions!
What’s a basic idea of the WIP’s plot? (Without spoilers.)
Essentially the story is about Feebie as she strives to uncover the secrets that her older brother has kept about her parents and life in general. She’s been sheltered, but she knows there’s more going on in the Frozen North than Rorick is telling her.
It’s also a story of hope through loss and the fact that the Lord is with us no matter what and has made us for such a time as this.
What genre is this story written in?
Young Adult Fantasy!
What is the WIP’s estimated word count?
Right now, it’s right under 20k, so a novella. I’m hoping to at least pass 20k!
What is the beautiful, complex, or intriguing land this story is set in? When is it set?
The story is set in the Frozen North, a kingdom of snow, ice, and more snow! There are some evergreen trees, and crops such as snow wheat that grow in the chilly climate. It’s my own frozen wonderland!
Think Narnia, but Aslan never came and defrosted everything…lol…
It’s SNOW!!! I love SNOW!!! Though it does get boring trying to come up with new ways to describe snow and whiteness…lol….
Where do you find inspiration for the WIP?
Out in nature and family! And definitely my boyfriend who helped me wrap up the last few chapters!
What is the theme of this story, and how does it impact the characters?
Again, I’d say the theme is hope through loss and that we were each created for such a time as this! No one is a mistake and you are right where God wants you to be!
Who are main characters? Why is this story about them?
The main character is Feebie, and it’s about her because she seemed to be the best character for the story. Also she kind of came with the story…lol…and well, that’s a spoiler so I can’t say more. My lips are sealed.
Who is the ultimate evil, and what is he/she doing?
I’d say there are two ultimate evils, but the real evil overlord guy is The Ice Conqueror…he’s creepy and also known for turning people to his cause and just corrupting everything. Such a big meanie…lol…
Where are the side characters, who are they, and why will they become my favorite?
Prince Akiak is a side character and he’s a total cinnamon roll! I love him and his nuggets of wisdom and his kindness! His older brother Erick is also great!
Oh, and Aki’s friend Inx the Mink is quite hilarious in a totally hates Feebie sort of way…lol…
Feebie’s brother Rorick is also great! I’ve had a few friends say he is their favorite!
Who’s your favorite character to write?
Well, Feebie is the MC but my favorite characters to write are Aki and Inx…lol…
What’s your favorite thing about the WIP?
The scenery! SNOW GUYS! So much SNOW!!!!! I love snow!
Oh, and the messengers, they are blooming adorable! But I’m keeping my lips sealed otherwise….lol….
What is the first sentence of the first paragraph of the first page of the first chapter?
Glimmering white flurries danced toward the earth, crunching beneath my boots.

Now, to end the post, share a short scene from the WIP of some character saying goodbye. (If you have such a scene.)
Well, they don’t technically say goodbye, but this is the best I’ve got:
I smiled and pulled my arm from his grip. “But you’d better get back to the outpost, or your Da will have your head.”
Anton glanced at the sky. “Great glaciers, you’re right! I’ll see you in the morning, Feebs.”
I waved as Anton hurried off toward the outpost on the outskirts of the village.

Conclusion
Alright, I tag anyone who wants to be tagged because I’m leaving in approximately 20 minutes…lol…Anywho…
Anyone excited? Do you like snow? What about Narnia? Evil villains? Animal sidekicks? Let me know in the comments!
God Bless!
Rissy
