I Stole the ‘Know the Novel’ Questions. Shhh…

Hey everyone, The Guild of Thieves release in 2 weeks! So I’ve got a special post for you today!

Oh, did you think you were going to learn about my Nano project? Sorry, I don’t do Nano…lol…kills my creativity to have to write a certain amount of words everyday…lol…

Anyway, I stole…actually, that’s a harsh word. I borrowed the “Know the Novel” questions to use as a…map, so’s to speak for talking about GT!

AGAIN!

*hears mumbled confusion and some complaining that Jaidie won’t stop talking about this one book*

So, here we go!

(This never gets old…lol…)

(Also, no judgy my pink headings…I LOVE pink, okay? Okay.)

I was practicing drawing humans, because if you didn’t know I’m an artist too *winks*, and I drew a random dude with a cool hat and big fluffy feather stuck in it! So, I was like…”He’s cool, looks nice.”

My sister Rissy looks at him and says, “He looks like a thief.”

Which then gave my brain this thiefy quote:

“Being a thief is easy, but getting caught…now, that’s when it gets tricky.”

To which my sister Kayti then looks at him, reads the quote, and says, “You should call him Dice.” (which is name she actually found on a gravestone, like someone was actually named Dice, cool right?)

Anyway, Dice the thief was then born! And would not leave me alone….

Since I’m horrible at summaries, and that might spoilery…let’s got with the blurb!

β€œBeing a thief is easy, but getting caught…now, that’s when it gets tricky.”

Dice is a street boy in the poor district of Raheren, forced to be what he must to survive. A liar, a cheat, and a thief. But just like all thieves in Arkrindon he abides by the rules of thieves, stick with your unit, stay in your district, and don’t get caught.

When Dice is jumped by another group of thieves trespassing in pickpocket territory, things quickly escalate. These aren’t just any thieves, this is a whole new breed of thieves, ones who don’t play by the rules. Rogues, burglars, and pickpockets have come together, abandoning districts and uniting under one man, Azic, the master of The Guild of Thieves.

For his freedom and the lives of his unit, the Guild presents a deal: Steal the King’s Jewel or watch everyone in his unit die. If Dice steals the jewel he’s dooming the kingdom but if he doesn’t everyone he cares about will pay the price.

The story is set in the fictional kingdom of Arkrindon and starts in the desert city of Raheren…which is sort of like, Arabic looking, kind of like the city in Aladdin *winks*. With markets, thieves, cute little adobe houses, those sort of things.

From there we go to the rainy and meadowy city of Darrenton, where the houses are stone and the streets are cobbles. The roofs are not flat (so you can image what kind of problems that might cause) and there’s a lot of fancy people. πŸ˜‰

My favorite aspects of the setting is how vastly the kingdom of Arkrindon changes from location to location, and also…I love Raheren because of all the fancy spices, colorful clothes, and just the colorful vibes of the desert city where Darrenton is more like, gray, gray, gray, is that some color? No, gray. (You see what I did there…lol…)

And the Victorian vibes infused in the fantasy world…*chef’s kiss* It is awesome! Not to toot my own horn…lol…

Oh, my baby! Well, you guys know how he came to be and where he got his name…so…let me see, what else can I tell you?

Dice is a pickpocket, a good albeit slightly reluctant pickpocket. He cares a lot about his unit and would do anything to protect them. They’re all he has in the way of family.

Renn is his best friend, like a brother to him.

He’s fiery, stubborn, and has a pretty bad temper…but he’s also kind, self-less, and determined to do the right thing, even if his right thing doesn’t look like everyone elses.

AZIC! Okay, is it slightly concerning that I like my villain? Like, he’s super cool and funny and just….oh goodness, awesome!

He’s too cool to hate, you know? And too funny to despise…He came alive with his own evil ways and twisted plans and just *shivers* a sense of humor.

He’s the Guild Master of The Guild of Thieves, the mastermind behind the downfall of the Code…and man, do I like this villain. My best one I’ve ever wrote!

That it’s publishing in 14 days! I mean, c’mon! We are so close and I am so insanely stoked and excited!!! Eeek!

Let’s go with something else…lol…it’s supposed to be a standalone. *stuffs characters in closet, ‘Stop bothering me!’* *laughs nervously* But you know characters, am I right?

I plotted it all out…in my head. *points at the ole noggin* Yeah, I didn’t have the patience to write it all down so I plot in the noggin and just go from there. Don’t ask how I keep it all up there because I honestly don’t know…lol…

Fantasy with a Victorian flare, thieves coming out of the woodwork, you know that sort of thing.

Little lizard dragons and crazy thieves named Ringer…

Well, I would like nothing more than to share my Pinterest board with all of you…sadly until my fake birthday of November 5th, that’s not possible…lol…so, for now enjoy this very short playlist and a collage or two:

Alright, I hope you guys enjoyed that! And let’s keep it on the down low that I stole these questions and used them for something other than their intended purpose. *winks*

Do you have a villain you’ve wrote or read or watched that you like? Do you like Aladdin? Isn’t the live action one awesome!? Do you like books about thieves? and last but not least…

WHO’S EXCITED FOR RELEASE DAY?!!!!!!!!!!

You didn’t steal the Know the Novel questions at all–they were freely there for the taking. Although I guess we can say you stole them to go along with the whole thief theme. ;D

But EEP. This sounds so fun!!! I will not lie, I LOVE thieves in fiction. They are just so fun! And Dice sounds incredible (also I adore his name!) The whole world and overall aesthetic also is so appealing. Victorian vibes in a fantasy world? YES PLEASE. This just sounds amazing!

I’m so glad you shared all this via Know the Novel. Thank you for sharing!!!
