Hey folks! Long time no see over here! I’m dragging a bit when it comes to words in any form lately…lol…but I shall endeavor to make this worth your while. But I totally forgot about this tag until seconds ago and now it’s my saving grace…lol…
Let’s have some fun!
The rules:
- link back to the tag creator {That would be Savannah Grace}
- thank the person who tagged you (I was tagged my sister, Rissy…lol…)
- share the tag graphic {optional}

Vital stats & appearance:
(Pen) Name: Kaytlin Phillips
Birthday: Sometime in the fall….around a certain important holiday, actually so close to it that people lump it in with the holiday. *sighs* Except my parents…lol…they make it special!
Hair color and length: Oh, my hair is brown with some blonde highlights, about to my shoulder blades or a little longer in length. And slightly grungy right now…lol…I’m trying to do a cleanse on it because it’s gotten so greasy and such lately, but if it doesn’t get better by Saturday, I’ll have to use the bad-for-you high-power shampoo because the natural ain’t cutting it…lol…
Eye Color: Blue-gray… 😉
Braces/Piercings/Tattoos: Pierced ears…I hardly change my earrings ever…lol…
Righty or Lefty: Righty…just a normal person here.
Ethnicity: American….who knows what’s in the background…haha…maybe something interesting somewhere back there…haha…
Firsts:
First Novel Written: On my own…World of Silence. Which is also my first book published! I know, the whole don’t publish your first book thing…but see I had completed almost 4 books with my sisters before every starting my own book, so *shrugs*.
First Novel Completed: Again, on my own would WoS!
Award for Writing: I received a regional honorable mention in the scholastic art and writing awards with the original version of WoS, which was surprising because that was a horrible version…lol…
Publication: Um, WoS again…lol…
Conference: No…but I really want to go to one!
Query/Pitch: Yes, multiple all big nos…and I have a proposal out right now. *fingers crossed*
Favorites:
Genre: Ooof, um, probably fantasy! Or historical fiction, I love both! And just adore writing and reading both as well!
Author: Gillian Bronte Adams, Chuck Black, Andrew Peterson, C. S. Lewis, J. R. R. Tolkien, S. D. Smith, Laura Ingalls Wilder, L.M. Montgomery, Louisa May Alcott, Nadine Brandes, Jonathan Auxier, Madisyn Carlin, Kristina Hall, Vanessa Hall, Lillian Keith, and many more!
Writing Music: I can write with anything playing but I really enjoy writing to movie soundtracks, The Piano Guys, Lindsey Stirling, and Taylor Davis!
Time to Write: Late at night, between 10-11:30 most of the time. My mind comes alive at night like Jo March! *winks*
Writing Snack/Drink: Water…and that’s the only thing I have while writing. *shrugs* I write late at night so eating isn’t a good choice.
Movie: HTTYD, Sing 2, Lord of the Rings, BBC Robin Hood, Star Wars (the originals), The Princess Bride, Pride and Prejudice (1995, it’s the best!), Wives and Daughters, Lark Rise to Candleford, Anne of Green Gables (1985), North and South, Miss Scarlet and the Duke, All Creatures Great and Small (the new one), The Road to Avonlea, The Hobbit, and Narnia! To name a few….lol…
Writing Memory: I have fond memories of writing on the screen porch at our old house and listening to the creek babble across the yard. The birds singing and my pencil scratching against the paper. Fond times.
Childhood Book: The Little House Series, I probably read those books close to ten or more times a year…lol…I loved them! I devoured anything to do with Laura and read biographies that would be beyond most ten-year-olds because I begged my dad to let me read them even though I might not understand it all…lol…
Currently:
Reading: I just finished Manifest – Storm & Spire book 5 and I’m working on finished up Breadcrumbs by Anne Ursa, loved the first book and not sure what to think of Ursa’s book…
Writing: Heart of Keys: A Post WWI Novella I had an idea for expanding a short story after talking to Vanessa Hall a few months back and it wouldn’t level me along so now I’m writing it! I’m three chapters into the expansion and loving every moment! Here’s a clip because I must share some:
The puddles had barely dried by the time Saturday’s storms arrived—the steady rainfall as constant as the haunting memories and dark thoughts that plagued my broken mind.
With a sigh, I rose and wandered about the parlor, running my fingers over the spines of the books—new books with smooth covers and crisp pages and old tomes with faded colors and blurred ink. The same thing and yet different. Both books but not the same. Much like I was a man, but not the man I was at the start of the war.
Heart of Keys: A Post WWI Story by Kaytlin Phillips
Listening to: One piece at a Time by Johnny Cash…lol…
Watching: Um, just finished watching Nicholas Nickleby.
Learning: Patience and how to trust the Lord with every area of my life and in every stage and how to be content where I am instead of wanting to be somewhere else in my story.
Future:
Want to be Published: Yes! I’m indie-published but I’m hoping to hybrid publish! Eek! *fingers crossed*
Indie or Traditional: Maybe both eventually! For now indie or hybrid.
Wildest Goal: Be successful as a writer, get married, have a passel of kids and settle down on a ranch with horses, cows, chickens, rabbits, dogs, goats, and who knows what else! Wide open spaces and fresh air and family close by, oh and a library in my house…lol…
