Strike Out Challenge

Hello folks! Today we have a super fun challenge which we stole from Saraina and then realized that Lily Yu had tagged us (thanks for letting us know, Saraina!) We’ve been so crazy busy lately we’ve been missing tags and such, so if you tagged us for anything let us know where to find that in the comments… 😉

We are so excited to do this one because it looks so fun! Okay…here we go!

The Tag!!!

Kissed someone – Not like that….lol….be a no.

Gone to a rock concert – Nope, been to an Andrew Peterson concert which is about as far from a rock concert as you can get…lol…

Helped someone – Yes! We used to babysit for people, for free, and we often try to help out where we can.

Gone fishing – Yes!!!! Canoe fishing, fly fishing, spinner fishing, sea fishing, fishing….lol…we’re just too cheap to buy a fishing license now that Kayti and Rissy are no longer legal.

Watched four movies in one night – No…can’t say we have. We’d have a major headache if we did that.

Lied to someone – Yeah, we’re pretty sure all kids lie at some point…and we had a pretty interesting background, foster kids, came with some probs…

Failed a subject – No…mom won’t let us. We have to redo math pages till we get good scores. But mainly, it’s because we have a lot of older siblings and are very competitive in that area…lol…have to get good grades.

Been in a car accident – Thank goodness, no. We came really close a few times. One time a wreck happened right behind us, like the car right behind us got tee-boned and flipped upside down, and mom called the ambulance…and then one time a moving truck came around a sharp curve on a road with no shoulder and almost ran us over, but he jerked it back into his lane in time…obviously since we are still here. It was on our way to our first dance too…we were rattled for thirty minutes.

Been in a tsunami – No….the ocean is 8 hours away…and would we be here?

Watched someone die (including pets) – We’ve watched pets die…our dog Copper, our rabbit Shadow, a deer our dogs ran through the creek….yeah, sad times.

Been to a funeral – Yes. Only one or two…we’ve been to more memorial services.

Burned yourself – Hahaha, yes! We are in the kitchen a lot, making dinner, cookies, cakes, bread…and we’ve got rope burns, carpet burns, ice burns (That’s a thing), basically any kind of burn we’ve probably had it except for like really bad burns…

Run a marathon – No…but our mom has run a lot! She ran 42 miles in 12 hours one year!

Spend over 10,000 bucks in one day – We wish! Wow! Who has that kind of money? And if you can spend that much in one day…then you need someone to give you something useful to spend your money on.

Flown on an aeroplane – Hahaha, no. Nor do we plan to… We’ve watched our older sisters jump out of one though…lol…

Written a 18 page letter (front & back) – No…we don’t really write to people, our mom hates having to go to the post office for stamps…lol…like really hates it, because our post office is soooooooooooooo busy! Hard to get to and just, not a fun experience….

Gone skiing – No…it looks kind of fun…haha…

Lost someone you loved – Yes. A lot. Our Papaw Lake, and older gentleman Rob who was a good friend, and an older lady Karen who was also a really good friend. We miss them! ❤

Got into trouble for something you didn’t do – Hahahaahahaha, did we mention we have 4 older siblings? Like, that happens too much! Rissy got blamed for knocking Jaidie off the stairs when they were little, turned out Jaidie fell but she couldn’t say anything for a while because she had busted her mouth…yeah, it happens.

Stolen a book from a library – No, but it sounds like something we’d accidentally do…lol…we’re so scattered. We almost were late returning a book once because it was one we didn’t finish because it was bad and then we forgot about it…lol…

Gone to a different country – Almost! We were so close to crossing into Canada once! So close! We’ve been to a TON of states…if that counts.

Gambled in a casino – No, but we’ve bowled in one…lol….we actually have a casino in our town, bummer! Hate it! Ever since the casino was built the town boomed and it’s not the same…not at all.

Been in a school play – Been in a church play…it wasn’t that great…lol…

Taken a lie detector test – No…hope we never have to…hahaha…

Voted for someone on a reality TV show – Yes! We used to be big into watching AGT and The Voice and we’d vote for people on there…then the shows got weird so we stopped watching them about…eeeh, 5 years ago or so….

Read more than 20 books a year – Pfft, easily! As a group and separately…lol…in case anyone is wondering.

Gone to Europe – No, but we want too!!! Especially Scotland and Ireland!!!

Had a surgery – Yes! Rissy has had 3, she has a club foot…so, that had to be corrected a few times, Kayti had her wisdom teeth out but that’s not really a surgery, more of a procedure…lol…

Had stitches – Nope! Needed stitches, probably…but mom always used bandaid glue to piece us together again…lol…it works really well!

Ridden a tuk-tuk (autorickshaw) – Never heard of that…gonna go with no.

Had more than 5 IM conversations going on at once – Yes! We’ve had like up to 8 conversations going on at once…haha…like we said, we’re so scattered…haha…

Been in a fist fight – With our siblings…yes. We’ve been in fist fights, sword fights, karate fights, word fights, beanie boo fights (yeah, that’s a real thing, if you want to know more ask in the comments), and any kind of fight you can think of. We never actually hurt hurt each other…we just had two older brothers.

Had a pet – Ja! We’ve never had only one pet…we’ve always had two or more! (If you count the chickens as pets we’ve had as many as 50 pets at one time…lol…with chickens, dogs, rabbits, a gecko, and a fish…haha…)

Petted a wild animal – Petted deer our brothers have killed, but not really. Wouldn’t want to get bit or get rabies.

Had your own credit card & bought something with it – Not yet…Kayti has a debit card…lol….

Dyed your hair – Nope! Never! We don’t ever plan to either…haha…

Got a tattoo – NOOOOO!!! Don’t plan on that either…

Had something pierced – Yes! Ears! But nothing else…

Got a straight A – Yes! We have…in a few subjects…Rissy and Jaidie made straight A’s in math last year!

Taken pictures with a webcam – We did one time when Kayti first got her laptop….terrible quality…bleh!

Gone to sleep with music on – No…we have this thing where we tune into patterns and beats, mom says it has to do with the way we process, but anyway, we can’t sleep with music, talking, ticking clocks, we can’t even sleep in the car because we tune into the rumble…we can sleep with the sound of rain if it’s gentle, and crickets if it’s light….but it has to be real rain and crickets, we can tell the difference if it’s not and won’t sleep a wink…lol….

Sisters Three

Published by Sisters Three

Hi, we're Kayti, Rissy, and Jaidie, a writing trio of sisters, living in the Southern Appalachians of Western North Carolina. The three of us are as thick as thieves as they say, whoever "they" are. We have four older siblings, a controlling German Shorthaired Pointer named Ruger, and a Mini Lop rabbit named Smallsy-Jo. We're homeschooled by our amazing mom and our dad is a pastor and avid plant hunter. Our dad encouraged us to start writing after he heard an elaborate story we made up, so we started writing things down, and eventually the things we wrote down actually made sense and now we're writers! Or aspiring writers anyway.

  1. WOW, you guys made a gorgeous banner for this one! I’m really in love with it and keep scrolling back up to look at it again because it’s so beautiful. 😂

Aw, speaking of foster care, I was wondering if you guys had any posts about your experiences and such. I feel like God’s calling me to adopt or to help with the foster care system, and though I’m not at that point in life yet, I do want to adopt a child or two when I’m able to. If you three are comfortable sharing parts of your story, I’d love to read a post on that!

The nearly happened accidents sound like they’ve got God in them! I would bet He was protecting y’all from harm. 😊

Woah! How did your mom do that?! That’s crazy and amazing!

Aww, sorry for stealing all the other bloggers! 😭 Thanks for linking my post at the beginning, though, and I just wanted to say that it was a pleasure to read your rendition of this tag!

    1. Thank you so much!!! Haha…Canva!

We have one Rissy did, more on how thankful she was during our 12-year anniversary with our foster parents. You can email us if you’d like and we’ll answer what questions we can! 🙂 That’s awesome though! There are so many kids who need homes!

Definitely! He totally was because they were so close.

We have no idea….lol…she is awesome!

Haha, no problem…lol…of course! Thank you so much for reading and tagging us!

  2. lol that was a fun read. the only question i can say yes to is sleeping with noise. in fact, i prefer background noise when i’m sleeping bc if everything’s dead silent…my imagination goes wild it you know what i mean. i sleep with a sound machine, but love it when i can still hear people talking downstairs and can easily fall asleep with that.

    1. Thank you! Our brother is like that…he likes background noise, but we can’t…lol…oh, sleeping where you can faintly hear voices, yeah…that’d never happen for us…lol….thank you for stopping by!

  3. Noise? YES! I usually sleep with The Word or soft music playing. Buttt…….. I have been known to fall asleep to “the good the bad and the ugly soundtrack” (call me crazy😅🤣)
Nice to meet you sisters. I am the eldest of three sisters myself.
I also plan on stealing this tag/challenge but from Grace Johnson.

    1. Oh, nice! Hahaha…that’s a great soundtrack…lol…we played it on our road trip out west! (nope! We’re crazy too, this is a crazy friendly zone…lol…)
Nice to meet you too, Corrie! Cool!
      Haha, sounds great!

  4. I can sleep to the sound of a fan… But other than that, nope! Lol, though, you never realize how much noise there is, even in a “quiet” house until the power goes out when everyone’s asleep. It literally wakes me up!

I’ve never been to a rock concert, and I never plan on going to one!
But I have been to a symphony! 😍 We got our picture with the conductor, and I got his autograph! I was literally on Cloud 9 for the rest of the night… I want to go to more, and I SO want to go to an opera… Someday, maybe! 🙏 I’d love to go Austria and see one. 🥰

    1. Hahaha, that is so true, Riley! It wakes us up too…lol….

      Lol…us either!
Oh, that’s so cool! We hope you get to!!! Our mom wants to go to the symphony…it’s been on her bucket list for yearsssss….haha….

  5. Never been to a rock concert, just for King and Country when I was five… Fist fight??? Yes, many with my best friend, especially over food. I even have a scar under my eye from a dagger duel. I wish.. I have an uncle who’s like an older brother, but that’s about it. Only rain, fans, crickets, and music, but it has to be a certain type of music….
    Those are great questions!!!

      1. Yep lol, over food. We had this lunch table called the citadel of dreams and H. Thought it was funny to watch us tussle… Yes, they are!!!

  6. These are great questions and I loved reading your answers! I have never been to a rock concert (because Phil Wickham and the Gray Havens definitely don’t count XD). Fist fight…yes…because that’s what happens when you have a lit of brothers. Speaking of brothers, yes I have 8 craaazy brothers! XP I can sleep with some background noise, yeah.

    1. Thank you so much! Haha…. Wow! We have two and they drive us crazy…lol…do you have any sisters? *hands you chocolate* You deserve it after putting up with 8 boys…haha…WE should say soo…lol….

      1. I have two sisters…but the girls in our family are vastly outnumbered. XD *takes chocolate and shares some with you girls* Thank youu!

        Liked by 1 person

      2. Oh dear….we have two brothers (as mentioned) and two older sisters so the boys in our fam are the ones outnumbered…lol… *munches chocolate* You are one tough girl to survive that many brothers. *all nod*

      3. COOL! Yes, our family is/was all homeschooled!!! I actually had a dual enrollment class at a local college today and it was my first class ever. XD Felt kinda weird, honestly.

  7. Ack this was awesome!!!!!!!!! 😊 Wow, you must know so much about fishing!! That’s so cool. 😀 I’ve only done it once, I think, and I was really little so I don’t remember a lot. *sighs* (Your mom ran 24 miles in 12 hours? I’m in awe.) Yess I want to go to Scotland and Ireland too!!! 😉 *high fives you* Okay, I slightly relate with tuning into patterns, but for me it’s more visual than auditory. Like, I can’t help counting telephone poles when I’m in the car, or things like that… it get so annoying lol. If I have a book to read, that distracts me from it. 😂

    Such a fun post!!!! 😀

    1. Haha, yeah fishing is kind of a big deal at our house…lol…so if you have any questions ask away! We mean, Cas is a flyfishing guide, so…. (Uh, flip it around….42 miles in 12 hours…lol…she’s pretty awesome!) Yes! Group writers trip! Now who’s paying? *glances around and is met with silence* *high-fives* Haha, we do that too! Like counting how long there is between the swipes of the windshield wipers or how many fence poles there are….lol…or horses, or dogs…yeah, we count everything on a drive…haha…

Thank you so much! Glad you enjoyed it! 🙂

      Liked by 1 person

      1. (Ohh, right, 42, not 24! WOW. So cool!!!) YES, GROUP WRITER’S TRIP! *high fives* Oh, who’s paying? Um… *hides* 😂

        Exactly!!! So funny!!

        You’re welcome!! I loved it!!

        Liked by 1 person

      2. (Haha, yes!) WOO-HOO!!!! *high fives* We think Vanessa gonna pay…lol…she’s coming too…haha…actually a friend of mom’s told her about this travel site and it wouldn’t cost too much if you used them…hmmm???

        ❤ ❤ ❤

        Liked by 1 person

    2. I count everything too! Like, I can’t help it! When I was in elementary school I would zone out in some classes cause I already knew the stuff and just count random things…..

      Liked by 1 person

  8. Ooh, we should have a writers’ trip to Ireland and Scotland. 🙂 Research, you know, just for research. (Just kidding. I wouldn’t get a lick of research done there.) But great answers, ladies! 🙂

    Liked by 2 people

    1. Oh, yes!!!! Research! 😉 We can research how things taste and what they look like…lol…(That is very true…haha…we’d have to stay like a month so half the time we could sight see and half the time research…lol…) Thank you!

    2. Oh, I’m coming too!!! And, I know it’s the other direction, but can we make a pit stop in Austria? I’m treating everyone to Sachertorte! 😋 (Whaaa, there’s no chocolate cake emoji?! That’s sinful. XD)
