Has your WIP a working title? If so, tell us! If not, have you any idea of what it might be?

Yes! It does…it took a while to come up with it, but the official title is Unfortunate Events: The Dragon Prince Chronicles Book 1! The plan is to do a trilogy!

Have you a synopsis for your WIP? If so, give it to us! If not, can you give us a blurb on what your WIP is about?

Yes! We have a synopsis! Here you are!

Lies are worn as masks, darkness threatens, and fear spreads like fire.

Mazleah has lost its Crowned Prince and the kingdom stands on the edge of ruin. When Kahtan Faber is forced into the King’s army life as he knew it collapses. Thrust onto a team with a brogue-speaking street boy, a secretive lordling, and his hometown bully, Kahtan quickly learns what it means to be alone.  As a Blacksmith’s son who has never wielded a blade, he’s nothing more than a failure to those around him.

But when secrets about his teammates are revealed, secrets that could shake Mazleah to its core, Kahtan must decide whether to stand with his team or with his country. Although nothing in Mazleah is ever that simple.

What do you think?

Have you a working/mock cover for your WIP? If so, show us! If not, have you an idea in mind?

We do! Rissy came up with the cover concept and Jaidie executed it perfectly and brought it to life! And Kayti defaced it with the title and script…lol….

How did you get the idea for this story?

Oh, fun question…well, we were bored. Dad was late coming home for dinner, we had nothing to do, and Rissy was like…Let’s just write for fun, like each write a sentence and see what happens…so, we did. And ta-da!!! This happened…haha….

How long do you think it will be? Is it longer or shorter than you thought it would be?

Longer, we thought like short story…and it turned into a plan for a trilogy! Well, a trilogy in progress, we have book 2 written (needs some edits to make it work better) and the first chapter of book 3, outlined…lol…so, it is definitely longer! As mentioned above it was supposed to be for fun, not…well, all this…haha…

Who’s your favourite character so far?

*gasps* How dare you?! Favorite character…honestly, we can’t choose. When you all get to read the book, hopefully, you will see why. The characters are just so much better as a group, not that they can’t stand alone, but…we love our boys together! And we keep teasing, but Nark in book two just adds a whole nother level to the group…lol…

Now, if it was least favorite character that is so easy…Maisley…haha…

What’s your favourite memory related to this WIP?

Probably just writing our boys, it’s so fun just to goof off, use parts and not others, and just overall have a LOT of fun! One of the funnest (This is saying funnest isn’t a word? *gasps* Our brother uses it all the time, so we gonna use it…lol…) projects we’ve worked on together! Because our boys are…well, boys. So, they goof off, joke around, blurt the first thing that comes to mind, and some of them are majorly sarcastic. *glances at Gaven* They are tons of fun!

Any special person(s) who helped create it?

Well, *glances at family* our fam definitely inspired some of the characters but they are all busy with their own…stuff. So special people who helped create and get UF to where it is are….*drumroll please*

Saraina Whitney and Abbi Befus! Our dear, dear friends who read the very, very, very, very, very rough first draft and kindly told us it was good…lol…you girls are the sweetest! So, we wouldn’t be here without them! *pulls said girls into a hug* Hope to meet you two one day! It’s gonna happen!!!

What’s your favourite scene so far (if you can tell about it without spoilers!)?

Ooo, a favorite scene so far…um, well…we’re thinking of several, major character arch moments and ending scenes, and that last sentence of the epilogue *shivers* (Sees our betas shiver too, you guys get it). But yeah, they are all spoilers…we’re so proud of our boys! *hugs them* even though some of them still need to grow up a bit…lol…

Can you give us a snippet?

Sure….um, hold on a sec *slides over to Doc*

Wow! That thing is literally littered with spoilers…haha…hard to find a scene with all the boys that doesn’t have a spoiler…lol…But, we found one!

“When do we eat?” Wixley grumbled.

Kahtan’s gaze met Wixley’s and he groaned. “In the morning. Master Finnick said we talk back too much and would go without dinner. Remember?”

Gaven flopped back onto his cot. “I do not know if I will make it. I am hungry enough to eat my hand right now. He makes us run like racehorses and then expects us to go without food. This man is crazy.”

“Loony, daft, right oot his mind,” Sage added, rubbing his legs.

“He’s a monster,” Kahtan said as he curled into a ball and tried to ignore the gnawing pain in his stomach.

The other boys mumbled in agreement.

Unfortunate Events: The Dragon Prince Chronicles Book 1

That was a fun scene to write! Especially what happens right after this…haha…poor Kahtan, so shocked, so we’ll stop talking about something no one else knows about.

Is the story still what you thought it would be or has it thrown you a couple curveballs?

Well, it was supposed to be short and now it’s LONG so that’s a curveball…lol…but we just ride it out, so we never have very concrete plans…it’s like this is a cool idea, yeah, add it to the list and we’ll see what makes it into the final draft…haha…so, we kind of live for curveballs!

Oh, like that part in book 2…yeah, didn’t see that coming. *sniffs* that was a major curveball…never saw that coming, really it was…haha, we’ll stop.

Is there a Bible verse, poem, hymn, picture, or quote that helped shape this story?

Song is not on this list, but there is/was a song…lol…Ceasefire by For King and County was a big beginning part of the shaping of the book.

And this verse definitely fits the theme of our book and is one of our many favorite verses!

God has chosen the weak things of the world to put to shame the things which are mighty.

1 Corinthians 1:27

When and where have you done most of the writing so far?

In Rissy and Jaidie’s bedroom, between the hours of 9 and 10 in the evening…lol…We are creatures of habit. WE did start the book on the front porch and that is where we have done most of the editing, here lately.

Where do you get inspiration for this story?

Anywhere and everywhere…lol…on a walk, from a movie, a song…anything really! We get ideas from the most random or random things…haha…

Are you a plotter or a pantser?

We’re definitely pantsers…lol…we just write and see where the day takes us! Sometimes we’ll come up with a vague idea on a walk or something, but we have like where we need to start, where we want the story to end, and everything in between is fair game…lol…

Do you have a little ritual before you start writing?

We always watch a bit of tv before we write…but that’s basically it. Nothing else, just a little tv and then we write. *shrugs* Sorry that’s not exciting…lol…

Are you thinking of publishing this story?

Yes! We are publishing Unfortunate Events on Sept. 9th!!! We are so very excited about it!!!!

You can preorder here!

And claim preorder goodies here!

What things have you learned while writing this story?

OH, wow…um, on the not deep end of things first. How to write humor and how to keep a character in character and develop strong character voices. We have our four boys, so it was fun learning how to keep their personalities separate and interesting!

On the deeper side of things…learning to trust and accept others and ourselves. Working as a team, not only just to complete this project but also through writing our characters. Kahtan (the MC) is not the typical hero, he has a lot of growing left to do, but he’s so fun to write. He’s taught us a thing or two in the don’t think too little of yourself department.

Master Finnick has probably helped teach us the most. Honestly, there is a scene toward the end…that we’re not sure where it came from, but Master Finnick has some wise words that definitely didn’t come from us…lol…

So, we’ve learned a lot. Grown as writers and people through the process and are just super excited to share this with everyone!

Sisters Three

Published by Sisters Three

Hi, we're Kayti, Rissy, and Jaidie, a writing trio of sisters, living in the Southern Appalachians of Western NC. The three of us are as thick as thieves as they say, whoever "they" are. We have four older siblings, a controlling German Shorthaired Pointer named Ruger, and a Mini Lop rabbit named Smallsy-Jo. We're homeschooled by our amazing mom, proud of it too, and our dad was a pastor until the fall of 2020 when he decided to resign and spend more time with the last three birds in the nest, that's us. Our dad encouraged us to start writing after he heard an elaborate story we made up to act out with our extensive collection of little horse figures (yeah, we collect them, don't judge we have like over 200). Anyway, so we started writing things down, and eventually the things we wrote down actually made sense and now we're writers! Or aspiring writers anyway.

  1. *hugs you too* AWW!! I’m so glad I could be of help in getting UF to where it is now!!! ❤ *shivers with you about the epilogue* Oh I love Ceasefire by For King and Country!! So cool that it inspired the book! (Actually, I think it was Rhys that first brought my attention to that song. 😉 )

"Master Finnick has some wise words that definitely didn’t come from us…lol…" LOL YES, that has happened to me before – having a character say something that definitely came from God and not me. 😂

Such a fantastic post, girls!!! ❤ 😀 I'm SO excited about the anthology updates. *jumps up and down excitedly*

  2. I can’t wait to read this book! It sounds so fun. I love boy gangs XD And the snippet! “I’m hungry enough to eat my hand.” LOL, who hasn’t felt that way at some point? XD

Ceasefire is an AMAZING song! It’s on my book playlist as well.

The cover is BEAUTIFUL! And your book has an epilogue? I love epilogues (and prologues). A book wins extra points with me if it has either of those… well written, of course. Which I know yours will be! I loved Kayti’s book World of Silence and can’t wait to see what you guys have cooked up with the three of you working together.

Thanks for doing the tag! Enjoyed reading your answers!
