Hey-Oh guys! I’m so excited to share the answers to your questions with you!!!!! Eeeeeeeee!!!! Okay, let’s jump right in and get started!!! Eeeek! So exciting!!!
Taurielβs Questions:
What is an Equestrian jumper?
Well, show jumping, is part of a group of English riding equestrian events that also includes dressage, eventing, hunters, equitation, etc. The jumping classes are commonly seen at horse shows and such throughout the world, even at the Olympics! It’s pretty cool to watch! And super fun to write about!π
What are their middle names?
Oh, that’s a good question, because I have no ideaβ¦lolβ¦so, yeahβ¦umβ¦I haven’t decided what their middle names are yetπ sorry, but yeah, I have no ideaβ¦hahahahaβ¦.
Lilyβs Questions:
1.) What inspired the skateboard and horseback riding elements to your story?
Oooo, good one! Well, the horseback riding wasβ¦well, I’ve just always loved horses and show jumping! I dunno really, I just thought it would be cool to make Diego do that, it suited his character very well.π€·ββοΈ
The skateboarding is easy. I was reading The Prince Warriors by Priscilla Shirer and one of my favorite characters, Levi, skateboarded. Since Steffen lived in California I wanted to make him do something besides surfing, so I thought why not make him a skateboarder like Levi? So, yeah, sorry those answers aren’t way coolerβ¦lolβ¦
2.) What is the theme you hope will shine through in your story?
The theme is a pretty central part of my story….and also happens to be a major spoiler, so…I’m gonna sidestep this one. π
3.) Who is your LEAST favorite character to write about?
Um, at the moment Steffen. I usually like writing about Steffen but after his ‘tragic accident’, it’s been really hard! He is just not doing what I want him toβ¦lolβ¦needless to say I can’t wait to go write about Diego againπ
Joelleβs Questions:
1. What was Steffenβs tragic accident?
Ooo, good one. *looks around the room and sees everyone is waiting for an answer for this awesome question, smiles evilly, a smile only a true evil writer gives* I think I’mma keep you guys in suspense for just a little longer *laughs evilly* so bypassing this awesome question for now because I’m just that evil…Mawhahahaβ¦π
2. What are the names of their parents? Are they divorced?
Ricardo and Lauren (I have to be honest with you I hadn’t named the mom yet, you caught me off guardβ¦lolβ¦but Lauren is a nice name, so I think I’ll keep itπ)
Yes, they are. They have been divorced ever since Diego and Steffen were babies. Diego lives with Ricardo in NM and Steffen lives with Lauren in Cali.
3. Is Steffen allergic to horses?
No.
4. Are there any sharks named Isabelle?
Sadly noβ¦lolβ¦
5. What is one of Diegoβs quirks?
Rubbing his arm when nervous or upset. He also chews his lip when angry. Oops, that’s two quirks, oh wellβ¦lolβ¦
Sarainaβs Questions:
β are they identical twins?
Yes, they are identical twins with only a few differences such as face shape and hairstyle, so besides those few minor differences, they are almost completely identical.
β how many pages are there in it right now?
At the moment it is 40 Word doc pagesπ
β how old are they at the beginning of the story?
Twelve.
β does the story take place over the course of years or months?
Currently, the story is already over the course of two weeks, so I’m planning for the story to take place over a few months or so.π
Concinnousβs Questions:
Are there dragons?
Sadly no, due to the time period and storyline there are no dragons. Though you can probably expect to see dragon references and such throughout the bookπ
Are you doing some art thorough?
No, at least not full illustrations. I am considering doing some chapter heading art, but I’m still just considering it, so we’ll seeπ
Are you doing the cover?
Uhhhhβ¦Wellβ¦*Presses lips together in deep thought*…Okay, so maybe I am, sort of, kind of, just a little bit, thinking of some designs and such, just a little, tiny, bitty, small bitβ¦Okay, a lotβ¦lolβ¦So, I am planning on doing a cover, just planning, but yeah, I might do the cover. We’ll have to seeππ
Kristinaβs Question:
Where did you get the idea for Brothers Divided?
Oooo, awesome question! Well, I got the idea for the story on vacation last year. We were vacationing in New Mexico and one day on a hike dad said ‘I challenge you girls to write a story set in New Mexico’. Since then I started brainstorming ideas.
First Diego’s home came to mind, a ranch with a newly refurbished Adobe house in the mountains of NM. Then Diego and Steffen came to mind, I’m not sure what exactly made me decide that they were twins but I’m pretty sure it was because the last time we went out west we watched The Parent Trap together and that just came to my mindπ€·ββοΈ anyway so like in Parent Trap I decided to make the parents divorced, and Diego and Steffen have never met each other. (But of course, they meet each other laterπ) and slowly more and more ideas came, most of which were inspired by the trip or other things.
Like on the way home from NM we watched a movie with a character that inspired Diego’s friend, Julie, and also a collie, Trooper (he was super cuteβ€) at the ranch we stayed at inspired Pouncer, a collie I decided to put in my book. So yeah, ever since vacation I have been writing (which is kinda sad because we got home in October and I’m only on chapter 13π) in Brothers Divided (which by the way, Kayti came up with the name for the book on the drive home while I was telling her about my idea I had, thanks Kayti!πβ€) so yeah! That’s how I came up with the idea for Brothers Divided!!ππβ€
Conclusion:
Wow!!! That was so fun! Thank you all for the amazingly fantastic questions and for showing so much interest and support for my WIP!!!! Means a lot!!!!
What was your favorite answer? Do you think Lauren is a nice name? Does Equestrian Show Jumping sound cool to you? What about Skateboarding?
I hope to hear from you in the comments! Till next time (which I think is…the World of Silence Blog where I get to post something excitingly special!)
Adios!
