Editing Adventure Tag

Hello folks, we have returned from Narnia…lol…we wish. In reality, we have just been so busy with the holidays, school, and work that we haven’t written a blog post in forever! Lucky you guys we got tagged a while back and finished it just a bit ago….so, welcome to the Editing Adventure tag!!!

The Rules

  • Link back to the original site ( https://kristinahallauthor.wordpress.com/ ).
  • Thank the person who tagged you. (Thank you soooo much Kristina! Also, sorry this is so very late…lol…)
  • Include the lovely graphic. (Done! And, ooo, it goes good with the colors of our blog! Like it was made for our site!!!)
  • Answer the ten questions.
  • Create ten new editing-related questions of your own or stick with the questions you answered.
  • Tag however many of your fellow writers you want.

Okay, here we go!!!

What’s the goofiest correction spellcheck has suggest you make (nothing profane, please)?

Hmmm, so many…for the first year we were writing we used our kindles, and let’s just say those things have a mind of their own…lol….

But here’s one from Kayti: “My kindle changed a character named Cam to Can…hahaha…it was so funny!”

Rissy: “I use a voice app sometimes and, I’m not sure what the character was supposed to be saying anymore but the app wrote down, ‘have Facebook 2 + 10 right?’ So funny!!! It was a medieval fanfic so I’m not sure what happened….or where it got that….hahaha….”

Jaidie: “In my fanfic it said, put the parent under the tree instead or present…hahaha….so good!”

What’s your most embarrassing typo?

Hmmm….Jaidie’s going with the one above…lol….

Rissy is going with the time a sentence in a fanfic read, the book stared at her…lol…that would be creepy…hahaha….

Kayti’s going with one from World of Silence, where she made Fledge (her deaf main character) hear things in the first draft….embarrassing….

What is your record number of complete edits on one project?

Hahaha, we edit as we go….and then we go back and edit previous chapters while writing and then we edit, edit later and have friends edit…but personally, probably between five and seven….hahaha….

When is a project good enough for you?

Is this a trick question? When is a project ever good enough? Nuh-uh, it is never good enough….but it’ll have to work…nobodies perfect…

Do you live in fear of finding a typo in your published work (novels, short stories, blog posts, etc.)?

Uh, yeah. We had a book out for a short time (horrible, horrible mistake) but it had so many typos (we had even paid an editor), and yeah. We try not to read over our blog posts after we publish them because we’re pretty sure we’ll find a typo and have to fix it….lol….

What mistakes or writing styles drive you the craziest (when you’re reading)?

Kayti’s going with inconsistencies…they drive her crazy!!! Like did you know in Melanie Dickerson’s The Golden Braid (ebook copy anyway) it bounces between Sir Gerald’s right and left arm when he breaks it? Yeah, real deal….that’s crazy!

Rissy says when someone gets hurt really bad and then a few minutes later they’re running around and saving people…argh, aggravating because it so wouldn’t happen!

Jaidie avoids anything that bugs Kayti and thus has a happy reading experience…she might be onto something…lol….

Have you ever written in a library book to correct a typo?

Never! People do that? Why? You do not write in books, you must take special, delicate, care of them….okay, maybe a little much but we really like books!

Can you edit and write in the same day?

Hahaha, funny…no. Yeah, that’s not gonna happen…lol…if we start editing that will end up being what we focus on…we’re very single-minded….

What’s your favorite part of editing?

Nuh-uh, not a favorite part….except finishing…but then we usually realize the next day we need to edit again and we just, urgh. It feels like a never-ending cycle….why must feel as if our manuscript has to be perfect!

What’s your least favorite part?

All of it!!! We just feel like we can never get our manuscripts polished enough….it feels like the editing will never end….hahaha….

We’re gonna stick with these questions because they’re good and we lack the brainpower to come up with new ones at the moment….lol….enjoy!

Okay, tags…who to tag…so many people have already been tagged….ahhhh, well, um…if you have already been tagged sorry!

A. R. Befus

Saraina Whitney

Joelle Stone (The Pen Inspired)

Allie Jo Anderson

Issabelle Perry (Teen Writers’ Nook)

Twi and Louise (Bookish Productions)

Lily Keith (The Pencil Sisters)

And you! Whoever you are…who are you?

Okay, hope you guys enjoyed that post, and hopefully, you’ll hear more from us soon!!! Till next time adios amigos! (What, we’re still stuck in New Mexico from vacation…lol…)

Bless! (Oh, wait Bless is an Icelandic goodbye thing….oh well who knows where we are…Horoo! And that’s Australian…hahaha….now we’re just having fun!)

Sisters Three

Published by Sisters Three

Hi, we're Kayti, Rissy, and Jaidie, a writing trio of sisters, living in the Southern Appalachians of Western North Carolina. The three of us are as thick as thieves as they say, whoever "they" are. We have four older siblings, a controlling German Shorthaired Pointer named Ruger, and a Mini Lop rabbit named Smallsy-Jo. We're homeschooled by our amazing mom and our dad is a pastor and avid plant hunter. Our dad encouraged us to start writing after he heard an elaborate story we made up, so we started writing things down, and eventually the things we wrote down actually made sense and now we're writers! Or aspiring writers anyway.

  1. Thanks for the tag, girls! I’ve got to admit that I saw this tag going around and was kinda dreading getting tagged – how does one answer these awesome questions!?!?!? But now I shall have to face this challenge. *nods seriously*

Anyway, great post!! Three sisters blogging seems like an excellent idea. 😉 Adios, amigas! Hasta luego. 🙂

  2. “Put the parent under the tree” LOL that’s so so funny!!! 😀 I’m afraid I so relate to never feeling like my project is good enough! It’s like there’s always something else I could try to make better, haha! 😉 And no way – about “The Golden Braid” having his wound switch from left to right lol… kinda big inconsistency! Yeah, when I see inconsistencies like that it draws my focus out of the story. I loved reading your answers – and thank you for tagging me!! 😀

  3. Aw, this was so much fun! And I agree with those things that bug you. It drives me crazy when characters start doing things they aren’t physically capable of. And Jaidie, that’s exactly what I do with Kristina. If she dislikes a book, I have a good heads-up to avoid it! 🙂 Though sometimes it works the opposite way, and she gives a book to me saying, “I think you’d like it.” Hahahaha, that’s what sisters are for, right?
