Hey folks! Welcome to the Blog/Launch Tour kick-off post for Trail of Assassins – book 3 in The Dragon Prince Chronicles! We’re excited to share more about the books and the schedule with you and…
We’re introducing the cast! Some are old faces and some are new so get ready!
Meet the Cast!

Kahtan is the main character, everything is filtered through his third-person POV but he’s not your typical main character. In fact, he’s more of side character overwhelmed with the large world before him and the things that he and his team need to accomplish in order to save their kingdom.
Kahtan is quiet and fearful. He feels useless compared to the rest of his team, like an afterthought. He’s not the strongest, bravest, or best, but through the series Kahtan’s learning that doesn’t matter so much and that everyone has a purpose.

Wixley is just about the opposite of Kahtan. He’s bold and blunt, saying what he thinks, whether you want to hear it or not. He’s had a rough past, and he’s taken that on others in the past, including Kahtan…but the Great Creator got a hold of this boy’s heart and it’s been epic to see the transformation in his character as the series progresses!

Gaven is mysterious and sarcastic. He’d do anything for those he loves, but he’s not one to easily give up information to others. His speech is proper and he never ever uses contractions. Sage is his closest friend and probably knows more about Gaven than Gaven knows about himself.

Sage is a jokester at heart, a thief, a rascal, and a survivor. He’s the extrovert of the team and he’d do just about anything for Gaven, even giving up his bad habits. Sage can find a friend in a room full of enemies, charming his way through any conversation with his Half-Galein accent.

Narken, known as Nark to most besides his Uncle Finn, is someone Kahtan can’t stand, though he can’t tell you why. Nark is self-assured, confident, and a ready friend to any. he’s the oldest boy on the team, but also the shortest, and most annoying in Kahtan’s books.

Master Finnick is the trainer for the team, and Nark’s uncle. He’s always ready with a word of wisdom or ready to make you run your guts out until you give him the respect he feels he deserves. Over the course of the series he’s become a father to the boys in many ways.

Lady Maisley Brookenfast was raised by her two older brothers, which means they let the servants raise her and thus she ended up with a Half-Galein accent. She is closest to her brother Hurgen and even travels with him on his bounty hunting missions, something her oldest brother, Vernon disproves of. Her tongue is cutting, her criticism quick, and her ability to take a joke nonexistent, but under it all she’s rather mothering, she just doesn’t show it very well.

Lady Silena Hovgindale is Maisley’s opposite. She’s kind, thoughtful, and perceptive. She never says something she doesn’t mean. She has been betrothed to the heir of Mazleah since she as a young girl and her kind nature would make her the perfect queen if things were that simple.

Abbiana is a healer, trained in the medicinal arts by her father, Brother Kiven. She is always caring for and looking after the team, especially Kahtan because that boy has a penchant for getting in trouble. But Abbiana is also the girl Kahtan likes, but can never seem to say the right thing around. Their first meeting in book 2 is rather embarrassing.

Reya is a Half-Galein, meaning she has a beautiful lilting accent, lots of spirit, and a constant companion in the shape of a large gray wolfhound named Stryder. Reya is full of jokes, practical advice, and more than willing to jump into the middle of any fight because she knows Stryder has her back.

The Dragon Prince is an occasional POV character as one of the main villains of the story who is willing to do anything to kill Prince Merickson. He’s consumed by anger at the betrayals he feels have been committed toward him (let’s be honest, he’s the real traitor but try convincing the angry dragon-man of that). With fire in his veins, wings on his back, and a dragon heart beating in his chest the Dragon Prince is an enemy to be reckoned with.

Prince Merickson doesn’t want the throne. Has never wanted it. But due to the state of Mazleah the responsibility is thrust upon him when his cousin, the Crowned Prince, falls in battle. The thing Merickson hates the most is everyone’s insistence that his life is more important than theirs. He doesn’t quite see eye to eye with his Uncle the king and that mixed with his sarcastic personality and his uncle’s need to be right make for intense debates.
