Rants, Updates, Release, and Welcome to March

Hello folks! Where did February go? We blinked and it was past, but it was also super busy…lol…Our mom finally got her own office building for the family business so we spent most of February moving in and figuring out what needed to be done for that. It was a bit stressful, but also awesome once everything was moved in!

We’ve been busy implementing beta edits for Trail of Assassins and making notes for what to work on when we do our final read through in April or May! Also, Jaidie finished the cover for ToA!!! All we have to do is add the title and everything and it’ll be good to go, once we pick when to do the reveal. We’re a little early with the cover since ToA doesn’t release until September!

Anyway, let’s get down to the news and life updates!

For our newsletter subscribers this Friday is when that will be going out! If you’re not subscribed, you don’t want to miss out, so head over here!

Every month we send out exclusive sneak peeks of our WIPs! There will be one for ToA as well as any projects the three of us are working on by ourselves! It’s also the first place we announce anything super exciting! (Most the time, sometimes it makes it to the blog only…lol…)

I’ve been working in the office since February 28th as I train my older sisters on how things work in the business and then I’ll be back to working 4 days from home and one day in the office probably, maybe 2 days in office. But it’s been fun to hang out with my older sisters all day and just enjoy chatting with them as we work!

I’ve sent Emberling to my editor, Madisyn Carlin, and I’m so excited! Also, on March 7th my novella Rose of Fate will be releasing in The Black Rose Collection and I am so excited you guys!

Project W has a little over 43k in it and I’m letting it sit at the moment while I try and finish a short story I’m writing for the Diverged in a Wood Anthology. Man, this story has been a pain coming in 100 to 200 word increments every 3 or 4 days…it’s been painfully slow progress but I’ve got about 1,500 words right now. So, I just need about that many more…lol…

Wowzee, I’ve been busy working on edits and trying to get into a new project. Does anyone else have the problem of where you finish a WIP that you’ve been working on for so long and then you don’t know what to work on next? Like nothing you start afterward is clicking?

Yeah, that’s me at the moment.

So other than that frustrating bit, I’ve been cooking and baking birthday cakes because Mom, Dad, and Nana all had birthdays in February! That was fun!

*Shoves concept sketches of Zuko and Aang in closest and closes Krita, where Aang is being colored. Only to find a digital coloring of Zuko staring back at me. Tosses tablet under blanket and forces tight smile*

Hi guys, I’m so not drawing fanart of the Avatar: The Last Airbender series instead of working on book stuff…no, that’s not me…it’s, um….*hangs head* Well, truth is, I am…lol…But it’s such a fun show! The cartoon or the live action that just came out you may ask…um, BOTH! It’s totally not an obsession…lol…*Kayti pops in, SO TRUE! Love them both!*(Also, content warning for the live action, lots of violence involving fire, aka, people being burned to death, not a whole lot of detail shown, Revenge of the Sith shows more in the burning department than this series. Also one muttered use of the d word and one use of a double s. Which the language felt out of place, but oh well…haha…Just fyi for anyone interested in the series…hm, should I, or we, write a review for the series? Anyone interested? Or for both series? And the movie that was made? Or even just other shows we like…hmm, there’s a thought.)

Also, I’ll probably post the art on my blog once I finish it all…*coughs* (I’m totally not planning to draw Sakka, Katara, and Taeph…lol…who would do that? Why would you draw all the characters when there’s like a million…cause like Iroh is cool and Tae-Ling and Mae and Azulia and Momo and Appa and so many others…*coughs*)

*Pauses fangirling* Wait, what was I here for? Ah, yes, what I’ve been up to. Well, other than all that is detailed above…I’ve been writing and Project BD has over 19k!!! Yay!! And yeah, that’s been life for the most part…haha…

As Jaidie has *coughs* ranted above…we’ve been watching the Avatar: The Last Airbender series, both of them, and we really enjoyed the storytelling and humor! It’s been a lot of fun especially since it’s given us ideas for a book we wrote years ago and want to rewrite. 🙂 It’s got elemental powers in it, and is a fun concept, we think! Just not well written and a jumbled mess of about 10 different POVs at the moment…lol…

So other than that we’ve been implementing beta edits and trying to work on DPC 4 which has been slow going. We finally have the first 2 chapters done and now we just need to figure out what order the events of the story should fall in. We have them all…we just gotta arrange them in the proper order so we can get them written!

We’ve also been using Sundays, when we can, to outline the next series we might work on which is a high fantasy that involves a lot of world building. So, actually, we’re not outlining we’re world building…lol…but it’s a super fun concept that we came up with years ago and which our Dad loves and says it’s like nothing he’s ever heard of! Which is pretty awesome to hear!

We’ve been busy, so we haven’t been super consistent with post or writing, sorry guys. But we do the best we can and we know y’all understand that. It’s hard getting us all in the same place sometimes between Kayti working, Rissy’s boyfriend, and Jaidie drawing and hanging with her friend Amber we’re a scattered bunch sometimes…lol…

How have y’all been? Are you excited about The Black Rose Collection? Did you enjoy the updates? And, this is important, do you like Avatar: The Last Airbender? Let us know so we can continue being friends…jk…Lol…We know it’s not everyone’s cup of tea. 😉

Yes, you should totally write reviews of the shows you love!!! I didn’t even realize there was a live action Avatar: The Last Airbender, lol! My brother got the cartoon from the library and we watched a few episodes…I was shocked by how it reeled me in. 😱 We didn’t finish the season, but it was surprisingly good!

    Have an amazing March!!!! ❤

Ack! We’ll get to work on that…lol…We know right? It’s surprisingly actually really good! And Zuko’s arc through the whole series is just amazing! You would love the character development that happens over the course of all three seasons…and the live action series is different, but so good!

      You too!
