In Which I Answer A Bunch of Random Questions!

Hi guys, today I decided to answer a bunch of random questions you guys sent me for blog post ideas! I’m excited to dive right in!

So, let’s get going!

– Where would you go first in Ireland?

To the castles! Doesn’t matter which ones…just take me to the castles! Me wants to see them! I mean who doesn’t want to walk around a castle or traipse through castle ruins, am I right?

– Can you do decent accents, or is it a struggle for you?

I could if I practiced at it. When I was younger we watched ‘The Spy Next Door’ so much that I had a pretty decent Russian accent going there for a while…lol…right now the only decent sounding accent I have is a Southern one. *winks*

Get it, because I’m from the south…lol…that’s my natural accent. *winks*

– Why write? Why not be a flight attendant so you can travel, or become a baker or something else more “practical”?

Because I don’t feel like that’s what I’m supposed to do. Writing sparks something inside me and let’s me escape into a million different worlds. And if I didn’t write I’d go insane with all the ideas piling up inside my head…lol…

– Have you ever had fried chicken dipped in vanilla ice cream?

No, but it might be good. I’m game if someone else tries it first…lol…I mean, fried oreos dipped in vanilla ice cream are good. And fries dipped in a vanilla frosty are good…so it could work!

– What is the weirdest but best food combo you’ve ever heard of and/or tried

Pizza with apple butter! Call me a weirdo, but I love it! Actually, our whole family loves it! Well, at least all us kids…Mom and Dad still don’t understand it.

 – If you had to be neighbors in an apartment with one of your characters for one year, which one would you choose and why?

Uh…well, hmm, with one of my characters…uh…probably Darius, you guys haven’t met him. Darius is a character from another project I will come back to at some point, but he’s nice, protective, and nice…oh, and he has a cool accent! Cause why not!

– Are you planning to write a book set in Ireland?

*nods* At some point down the road…lol…

– Have you ever considered writing MG fiction, and if so, what genre would you start in (i.e fantasy, contemporary, fairy tale retelling, etc.)

I do write MG (Middle Grade) sometimes….mainly fantasy, but I’ve not written anything very long at this point…*smiles*

– If you could visit Alaska or Ireland tomorrow, what would you go see first?

Alright, we went over Ireland…CASTLES!!!!

Um, Alaska…well, maybe the aurora or the sand dunes in the middle of a forest! Oh, or spawning salmon, or the mountains! Yes, mountains! Uh, and just everything! Man, I really want to go there now…like more than I did five seconds ago…haha…Oh, I’d definitely want to go dog sledding! Eeek! I mean, who doesn’t want to go dog sledding? Just saying…lol…

Conculsion

Well, that’s it for today folks! Thank you so much for stopping by! Where would you go first if you were visiting Ireland? Or Alaska? Do you write YA or MG or another genre? Can you do decent accents? Let me know in the comments!

God Bless!

Oooo this was a fun post, Rissy!!!! I think having a southern accent is the best accent ever, but I hear that I’m a little bias. 🙂 Ya know, Fried chicken dipped in vanilla ice cream doesn’t sound too bad. Maybe I’ll give it a try sometime… Also YES to visiting castles in Ireland and i have no idea where I’d go first in Alaska but it’s been a place I’ve wanted to visit for a very long time!

I would love to visit Ireland! (Alaska not so much…). Castles are so cool, but I think Germany’s my place for castles! I’d like to go to Ireland just to soak in the culture (and the rain, lol). I have an idea for a story set there…. it probably won’t be my next project, but I really hope to get to it someday! I feel like out of all the hundreds of ideas a writer could have, there’s only ever 3 or 4 that really keep a spark in your interest enough to write them, lol.
Which, speaking of Ireland… I love the Irish accent, and trying to imitate it, though I don’t know whether the imitation I do is more Irish or Scottish. My favorite accent to imitate is French—it’s tricky, but SO fun when you get the hang of it. (Asian accents are fun too. Steven He videos, anyone?)

Where I’m from (South Africa), it’s a thing to put banana on your pizza. My dad and sister are obsessed with it!😜

My current WIP is set in Alaska, so if I were visiting for research purposes, my top destinations would probably be Anchorage, Resurrection Pass, Chugach National Forest, and the Old Believer communities on Kachemak Bay. It would be incredible to see Alaska in person one day!😄

I write YA, though I’ve tried a bit of MG… it’s not really my thing LOL. I can do a really good British accent, French accent and Southern accent (even though I’m not southern by a long shot) but that’s about it… also… apple butter on pizza does sound oddly satisfying. 😀
