What’s a basic idea of the WIP’s plot? (Without spoilers.)
Wow! Without spoilers…the basic outline is about comradeship, bravery, and the fact that life is no solo mission…we all need people and we’re all important. We think all in all DPC is a story of belonging! And action….plenty of that sprinkled in…lol…
What genre is this story written in?
The Dragon Prince Chronicles is a Young Adult Christian Fantasy Series!
What is the WIP’s estimated word count?
Well, Unfortunate Events was about 43,000 words and Prince of Vengeance is around 53,000 words! We are halfway into the draft of book 3 and it is at 25,000 words right now! We expect it to top out at around 55,000!
What is the beautiful, complex, or intriguing land this story is set in? When is it set?
It is a medieval fantasy! And the land it is set in is called Mazleah! Which is full of forest and fields and lovely views, red stones, golden leaves, and red lightning cause why not…lol…
Where do you find inspiration for the WIP?
Everywhere! IN songs, movies, books, our weekend adventures, we dunno arguments we have…lol…anywhere and everywhere!
What is the theme of this story, and how does it impact the characters?
There are actually quite a few themes because it is a series, but the over arching theme is that everyone is important and needed. Without giving spoilers, that is all we can say…lol….
Who are the main characters? Why is this story about them?
We have one MC and his name is Kahtan Faber! We love this little guy, though he tries to drive us batty…lol…Honestly, it’s hard to say why the story is about him…he waltzed onto the scene after we had written the prologue of the book and then no other POVs showed up…just Kahtan.
He’s the best MC though, truly for the story, because he’s unexpected and just such a relatable little dear! In our opinion. *winks*
Who is the ultimate evil, and what is he/she doing?
The Shadowed One is the ultimate evil, and what he’s doing…well, what does the evil one do but destroy what the Creator makes? He has his minions too…one being The Dragon Prince.
Where are the side characters, who are they, and why will they become my favorite?
*rolls out list* Downside of having one MC you have tons of Side characters!
Sage O’Kinnons – Sage is Half-Galein, so he has a brogue and is super witty! We love writing him because he’s just so much fun! The first thing you think of is what Sage is going to say and he’s super sweet as well! He’s feisty and super loyal to his friends!
Gaven – The mysterious one that never wants to talk about himself. He’s so understanding and stubborn, doesn’t like being told what to do, and very sarcastic…lol…He speaks very properly and so writing his lines can be a bit of pain for us Appalachian gals…lol…
Wixley – He’s so complicated…his and Kahtan’s relationship….wow! It has come a long way from hate to friendship and it’s so much fun to see it develope! And to see Wix in book 3 teasing Kahtan about girls…lol…
Nark – He’s a new addition to our boys in book 2 of the series but we love him! He’s complex and awesome and seems perfect from the outside but we as the authors know his back story and his struggles and we can’t wait for everyone to fall in love with him! He has such a witty sense of humor!
Of course we have more…might as well put them here…lol… You can skip if you want. *winks*
Master Finnick – The boys’ trainer, he’s such a deep guy, he seems very stern but the more time that passes with the series the more he softens up and it’s just so much fun to see him around the boys!
Maisley Brookenfast – The boys refer to her as their bane…lol…she is the mother of the lot…haha…even though she’s the same age as most of the boys. She is stubborn, hot headed, and can be brutal most of the time…lol…she’s your act first ask questions later kind of gal…haha…
Lady Silena – Basically the opposite of Maisley, she’s such a little cinnamon bun! She is kind, caring, understanding, wise…adorable! We have no idea where her character came from but we love it!
That’s kind of the main crew so we shall stop…lol….oh, well one more!
Hurgen Brookenfast – Maisley’s older brother by like eighteen years…lol…Hurgen is a bounty hunter and is also mute. He seems like this big strong, scary, tough guy…but underneath he is really just a dear!
Who’s your favorite character to write?
Are you kidding us? After that list you want us to choose? Lol…uhh, well…*runs away*
What’s a quote that describes each MC?
We only have one MC…guess we’ll have to do Side characters too! *hears everyone groan* Alright, just Kahtan then…lol…
Oh look, a character card we made! Lol…(Yes that is Merlin from the Merlin series which we hadn’t watched or anything until after this…the series is….funny, but also the magic gets weird…lol…and the first episode is plain creep…)
But anyway, Kahtan sums himself up rather well in UF! So, tah-dah we hope you liked that!
What’s your favorite thing about the WIP?
Probably the dialogue and the comradeship of the boys! It’s so much fun to write the dialogue for the series because we have so many different personalities and writing humor with three people is just so much fun! And then the relationship the boys share, they’re like brothers and we just love the five of them so much!
What is the first sentence of the first paragraph of the first page of the first chapter?
Well, since this is a series….we’ll give you the first sentence of the first chapter of each book!
