Get to Know Me Tag!!!

Hey Folks!!! We’re so happy to be back and to see you all!!! Eeek, well…it’s just so good to be here!!!

Okay, so we are terribly behind on tags *cough* four months *cough* behind *cough*. But here is one we’ve been wanting to post FOREVER!!! And now here we are! We had to update it a bit…lol…that’s what happens when you filled it out two months ago…so some answers are new and some old…haha…but we updated the important ones!

Vital Stats and Appearance

(pen) Name: Kaytlin Phillips, Marisa Phillips, and Jaiden Phillips.  These are our real names! Is anyone up for guessing our middle names? Are they…

  1. Anne, Greta, and Gabriel
  2. Alana, Gillian, and Gertrude
  3. Aleigha, Grace, and Gabriella
  4. Adina, Gwen, and Georgina

If you know our middle names…well, you have an upper hand…lol…but won’t approve the comments for a few days to make it fair! 😊

Nicknames: Oh boy, pulls out lists this will be a minute….Okay…

Kaytlin – Kayti, K-K, Kayti-Girl, Kayti-Bug, Kate, Cake (Jaidie does it to annoy her), Skye (our friend Amber gave her that one), Blue Eyes (Dad😊)

As you can tell…people like giving us nick names. We mean…this whole blog is a nick name, Sisters Three! lol…

Birthday: Kayti – November! Rissy – October! Jaidie – April! Also, fun fact our birthdays always fall on the same day of the week. We all have birthdays on Saturday this year! Isn’t that weird?

Hair color and length: We could go boring…but…let’s go fun!

Kayti – Mainly a light brown with blonde highlights and redish roots, it’s straight and goes about halfway down her back.

Rissy – Golden blonde on top, but underneath it’s sandy brown…like she has two heads of hair! For real! It’s also really fizzy underneath and curly on the top layer….it’s a little past her shoulders in length.

Jaidie – Her hair is a shade lighter than Kayti’s with more blonde highlights and no red…it’s more than halfway down her back and straight, like straight! She also has side bangs that tuck neatly behind her right ear.

(Edit: Mom cut like 6 inches off all our hair! *crying faces* Hoping 4 and half months is enough time to grow it back, back we have a dance then!)

(Edit: Because it took us forever to post this…about three inches has grown back)

Eye color: Kayti has true blue, Rissy has true green, and Jaidie has true hazel…our dad did a bunch of research on eyes and found that ours are what they call true colors…lol…if you want more info you’ll have to ask him…lol…

Braces/piercings/tattoos: Kayti had braces from 12 to 14….and we all have our ears pierced! Also, Kayti has glasses…but her cool blue pair broke and now it’s just boring brown…and none of us have tattoos, unless doodling on each other for fun is counted…hahaha….

Righty or lefty: Kayti and Jaidie are righties! And Rissy is lefty!!!! (Of which she’s never met anyone else in person who is left-handed, except for our older sister who is omni-handed…so, not sure if that counts)

Ethnicity: Mainly boring caucasian…lol…English we know from our last name, we also as far as we know have about…um, a pinch of Native American….and probably some Scotch-Irish roots too! 😉

Firsts

First novel written: Oh, that’s easy! The War King a group novel…*cringes* That was bad….cool concept, not well written at all! We’re planning on rewriting…

First novel completed: Also The War King….We were so proud, but hey, we did write it entirely on a Kindle Fire 7 so that’s an accomplishment in itself right? Hahaha….

Award for writing: None….*hangs heads* Well, Kayti did get an Honorable Mentions in the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards for World of Silence in its *cringes* horrible state before she edited….lol….Jaidie never enters anything because she’s paranoid someone might steal her stuff…haha…and Rissy did once and was like, not worth the stress…haha…

First publication: HAahaha, *ignores question and looks away* Yeah, not answering that because…yeah…not doing that. It was a group book gone bad. All we’re saying….

Conference:  None…yet.

Query/Pitch: Kayti queried a ton of people! We queried one agent about our sci-fi contemporary The Never-Ending Trail…but nada on both.

Favorites

Novel (that you wrote): The Dragon Prince Chronicles Book 1: Unfortunate Events!!!!!!! It’s been so much fun to write! The boys are just the best! *hugs them all tight* Even better since the betas helped and now our editor! Man, Sage and Gaven…all we’re gonna say!!! Those two…hahaha….

Genre: To write or read? We’ll do both…to write: MG and YA Fantasy, Contemporary, and Kayti likes writing Westerns. To read….

Kayti – Basically any genre under the sun except horror…lol…and preferably all those genres under the Christian umbrella, please!

Rissy – Action/Adventure, Fantasy, Contemporary, Suspense, Sci-Fi, Mystery

Jaidie – Fantasy, Contemporary Fiction, Sci-Fi (If recommended by her sisters 😉)

Author: *Rolls out list* We’ll keep it short…or try…lol…No particular order: S. D. Smith, Andrew Peterson, Chuck Black, Jonathan Auxier, Jennifer Nielsen, C. S. Lewis, J. R. R. Tolkien, Priscilla Shirer, Kristina Hall, Vanessa Hall, Madisyn Carlin, Lillian Keith, Grace A. Johnson, Louisa May Alcott…and we’ll stop there…and the list could keep going. *rolls up long list and smiles sheepishly*

Writing Music: Our playlist…which is not organized…hahaha…listen to Panic at the Disco right now and Casting Crowns might come on next…hahaha…Oh, what do you know country music came on next…lol…

Time to Write: Evening! Between 8 and 10 in the evening…but we are not above writing at other times.

Writing Snack/Drink: None…except water…haha…if we could choose a snack it’d be the oreos in the pantry. Haha, but our mom is a health professional and we know too much to eat three hours before bed…lol…

Movie: Uh-oh *pulls out another long list, “You might want some popcorn* Star Wars, Narnia, LotR, The Hobbit, BBC Robin Hood, Lark Rise to Candleford, Princess Bride, HHTYD (Except the 3rd one), Ever After, Jack the Giant Slayer (New favorite), Cinderella (2016, does anyone know what’s Kit’s real name is? It’s not in the movie and it’s driving us crazy…lol…), Pan, Pride and Prejudice 1995 Version, Anne of Green Gables 1985 Verison, Wives and Daughters, North and South (the guy who plays Thorin in the Hobbit plays in this!!), and we could probably keep going…lol…*rolls list up*

Writing Memory: Um, Chapter 1 and then THE END…Nostalgia guys….It is so fun to start and end! Not chapter 1 and then the end…you know like twenty chapters in-between, that sounded weird….lol…

Childhood Book: Little Gorilla, we’d beg mom to read that book to us…lol…It was literally falling apart! We think mom had it memorized because it was like a family favorite…haha…pretty sure she only kept the book to show us the pictures…lol….

Currently

Reading: Kayti is currently reading Of Fire and Ash by Gillian Bronte Adams…Rissy, Should We Tell Her? by Lillian Keith…Jaidie Endling 3: The Only by Katherine Applegate.

Writing: Um, group-wise…Prince of Vengeance: The Dragon Prince Chronicles – Book 2 and The Never-Ending Trail….as well as getting the anthology stories gathered into one to doc so we can send that out in Dec. to the writers!…(we read Do Hard Things earlier this year and may have went overboard…haha…)

Kayti… Just finished Rivals of Skyline (WOO-HOO!!!! Topped out at 54,000, before editing and more adding later…lol…) and dabbling in short stories…lol…as she gets her NaNoWriMo project Emberling ready!

Rissy…A secret project she shall not name, as well as her NaNoWriMo project Bound by Fate!!!

Jaidie…A Secret project she shall not name, let’s call it Dice’s book shall we, and Brothers Divided, sort of. And her NaNoWriMo project which has no title but is affectionately dubbed Keithen’s Book!

Listening to: Sinner by Andy Grammer…kind of a dramatic song about a break-up, we think???? Honestly, we have no idea what the meaning behind the song is but it’s slightly catchy…lol…

Watching: We just finished a horse movie called Destined to Ride…it was okay. One of the better horse movies we’ve seen lately…lol…

Learning: How to edit a book, how to be thankful in every area of life, and how to love your crazy older siblings…jk.

Kayti: Learning about story structure, lots of nutrition stuff working for mom.

Rissy: Keyboard typing!!! Just got a laptop a few months ago!!!

Jaidie: Learning how to draw people! Lots of things to do with medieval thieves *secret book project, wink*

Future

Want To Be Published: Yes!!! And are!!! But we’d like to be traditionally published, maybe, at some point.

Indie or Traditional: Indie for now!

Wildest Goal: To own a ranch in the literal middle of nowhere out west! Where the nearest town is over an hour away and a driveway is nine miles long! *Yes, we sound like hermits* we’d have four houses on the property one for each of us and then our parents! Lots of animals, horses, cows, rabbits, goats, dogs, chickens, sheep, and anything else we might think of or want!!!

Conclusion

Wow! That was so much fun! Like, we had a lot of fun filling that out…as far as we can remember…it was a few months back…lol…

So, what do you think our middles names are? What are you reading right now? What’s your favorite song? Favorite author or book? Are you excited about fall being here and NaNoWriMo just around the corner? Let us know your thoughts in the comments!

Hooroo!

Sisters Three

Published by Sisters Three

Hi, we're Kayti, Rissy, and Jaidie, a writing trio of sisters, living in the Southern Appalachians of Western North Carolina. The three of us are as thick as thieves as they say, whoever "they" are. We have four older siblings, a controlling German Shorthaired Pointer named Ruger, and a Mini Lop rabbit named Smallsy-Jo. We're homeschooled by our amazing mom and our dad is a pastor and avid plant hunter. Our dad encouraged us to start writing after he heard an elaborate story we made up, so we started writing things down, and eventually the things we wrote down actually made sense and now we're writers! Or aspiring writers anyway.

  1. Hmm… I’m assuming your middle names are number three! I love country music and the Princess Bride is so good!
Reading… So I was reading a Redwall book (Lord Brocktree) but the library wanted it back so I’m rereading Skyward by Brandon Sanderson, it’s really good! (Unfortunately my writing teacher spoiled the end of the series)
Songs? Say I won’t by MercyMe, Burn the Ships by for King and Country (ok, anything for King and Country) and a list of 1980s country music.
Books? The Green Ember by S. D. Smith, LOTR, Redwall, The Prince Warriors by Priscilla Shirer, the Chronicles of Narnia, etc
Yes! I love fall! The aspens changed and we got to drive deep into the mountains and go to a ghost town to see them! So pretty!

  3. As always, your answers to this tag were SOOO fun!!!!! 😀 Okay, I was JUST thinking about how I didn’t know all your middle names! My sister was like, girl, you need to ask them! So anyway, my guess is definitely #3. *hopeful grin* (Whoa, 6 inches is a lot! Glad your hair grew back some since it was cut! 😂) Lol I love your long list of authors and movies!! And that’s exciting that you all have NaNo projects! For this November, I’m just gonna focus on finishing Gillory but I have some ideas for new books to begin after that XD

(And AHHH!!! Congratulations on finishing Rivals of Skyline, Kayti!!!)

  4. And that was rather fun to read!

*sighs* I don’t even wanna try guessing your guys’ middle names… I’m too afraid I’ll botch it up severely. *bites nails and shakes in the corner*

Rn, I’m reading nothing but school books. The Iliad, for instance… Which I have no opinion on, I am rather torn. 😅 But, in the little spare time I have, I’m reading Kim by Rudyard Kipling! And I need to pick my dictionary and Berlioz’s memoirs back up… I haven’t read them in a while. 😭

My favorite song is “Roundabout” by Yes. IT’S SO ADDICTIVE! I also love the song “Last Surprise”, sung by Lyn. (I can’t remember her last name, but it’s Japanese…) The chorus is especially amazing.
After that, anything classical. I could go on for hours explaining my favorite piece that I’ve listened to of each composer… I’ve been on a Bach’s Toccata and Fugue kick fsr… Spooky season I guess.

YESSSSS! I LOVE fall!!!! It gives me so much creative inspiration— it and spring— more than any other time of year!!! My favorite part of fall is the colorful trees, and full moons. Try playing hide-and-seek out under the full moon! IT’S SO FUN!
I don’t plan on participating in NaNo… Too busy with school and work. But I hope I can get around to editing my novel soon! I’m kinda thinking most of the latter half needs a rewrite… 😫
Good luck with your projects tho, m’ladies! 😄

      1. Yes! Tell me what you guys think when you do! 😁 (It’s kind of a different sort of song, but so fun.)

It is the best! Nighttime in the fall is extremely fun.

Thank you!!! I was working on it a couple days ago, in my notebook, and I think I managed to put a wee sliver of a crack in it… Hopefully it’ll come wide open soon enough! I am struggling with my heroine’s arc, mostly, I dunno what to do with her. 😝

        You’re welcome! 😁

      2. Haha, it is different and fun! We’re gonna send it to our brother, he’d like…lol…right up his alley!

        Agreed!

Praying you get it figured out! We’re sure you’ll get it!!!!
