Vanessa’s Questions:

  1. If you had to eat one food for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Pizza! It has more than one flavor so you could switch it out….pepperoni one day, sausage the next, maybe some Hawaiian every now and then…yeah.

2. Favorite Bible verse?

This is a hard one!!!! So very hard!!! We like a lot of them….um…. Psalm 27 is really good! Um, so is Psalm 23, and Psalms 127 and 128….uh, we also like Hebrews 11:1, John 3:16, I John 3:16, and some more that we can’t think of the reference for…*smiles!!!*

3. Favorite musical instrument? Why?

Well, we don’t play any instruments…tried that out once, lessons didn’t last long…we were self teaching and sounded horrible and none of us could stand each other’s racket…lol…so, we do enjoy listening to our Nana and brother play the guitar, so maybe that’s our favorite.

4. Last five-star read?

Well, for Kayti it was Resistance by Jaye L. Knight, which was super good!

Rissy’s was ….wow, a long time ago….um Light of the Last, the epic conclusion to The Wars of the Realm Series by Chuck Black!!! Best books ever! (Okay, so maybe we’d say that to a lot of books but these are really good!)

Jaidie’s last five-star read was The Star Dunes by Trudi Truett! Which is part of the super epic Explorer Academy series!!!

5. Favorite type of animal you would never have as a pet?

Guess that includes dragons, huh? Can’t really keep them as pets as much as we would like too…lol….but it kind of marks out most of our favorite animals since we tend to lean toward the dangerous ones like lions, tigers, foxes, wolves, cheetahs….etc.

6. Favorite subject in school (or when you were in school)? Why?

Kayti really liked Literature, because part of our mom’s literature program was reading classics and you know, reading during school hours is just awesome!

Rissy’s favorite subject is History or Science they kind of tie for her and she likes some kinds of Math….so yeah….just depends on the day.

Jaidie’s favorite is Math, mainly because she doesn’t like to listen to people ramble about dates and yucky stuff, her words not ours…lol….

7. Tea or coffee?

Does hot chocolate count? No. Well, then Russian Tea which we only get at Christmas time…bummer. Really we’re not big on coffee, well Kayti likes to run her water for hot chocolate through a used k-cup so the flavor is weak, Jaidie despises coffee, and Rissy is allergic to caffeine so no coffee for her. 😊😊😊

8. If you could live anywhere (in the existing world), where would that be?

We have no clue….maybe further back in the mountains around home…oh, we could be hermits! Yes! Writing hermits…ahhh, that sounds nice…but wait don’t hermits live alone? Okay, maybe not so nice since we are Sisters Three….rethinking the hermit thing…lol….

9. Favorite sport to participate in?

Don’t really have one…lol…we’ve played all sorts of real and made-up sports with our siblings but we don’t have a real favorite, favorite one…you know….

10. Favorite song/piece of music? (Currently.)

This is a real thing? Um, we tend to be this way…. Song playing. “Oh, this is my favorite.” Next song comes on. “Oh, this is my favorite!” Next song….”Oh, this is my favorite too!” Goes through whole playlist….”well, guess they’re all our favorites”…lol….

11. Snow or rain?

Snow!!!!!!!!!!! Rain makes us sad….it makes the ground all squishy and bleh, and makes you wet and droopy and our dog hates it…haha….Snow is light and fluffy and our dog loves it! And yeah, we don’t get snow much so we reallllllllllllllly like it!!!!!!!!!!!

Madi’s Questions:

  1. What is one lesson, writing or otherwise, you learned into 2021?

Grammar makes no sense…lol…either we put too many commas or not enough *bangs heads against desk* also, that following writing advice is very confusing…so and so says not to use said much, then somebody else says to use said mainly and not other words….What? Which do you do? LOL…

2. What is one fictional main character others like but you don’t?

Ohhh, here we go….*rolls out long list and clears throats* Well, Heather from The Green Ember series for one, she’s too perfect in our personal opinion.

Needle from Mistmantle…she’s kind of mean, personal opinion…she seems a little judgey.

Why are these the only two we can think of right now….we have a whole list but now that you asked…poof! They not here anymore…lol…

3. What is one of the lessons your character(s) will learn in your current WIP?

Since our group WIP is still in the beginning fazes and we’re not entirely sure….we will do induvial! If we can…lol….

Kayti, Yes! I have an easy one! My current WIP is my NaNo book ‘Rivals of Skyline’ and Daniel will learn of forgiveness, redemption, and the Love of God! We are never alone!!!

Rissy….*Deep thought taking place* Masen in my current WIP will learn what it means to be a leader and step up to protect his people! That is if I don’t change it…lol…who knows I’m squirrely…haha…

Jaidie, *Scratches head in thought. I got nothing! Runs for the exit and is promptly dragged by her sisters* Well, um….hmm….just making it up as I go…sort of…I know there’s a lesson in here somewhere *searches through doc and notes* Um, it’s hard to explain at the moment cause I’m not quite sure…but some brotherly love wouldn’t hurt either of my characters!

4. Mountain or beach?

Mountains!!! The beach is nice for about two days and then we’re like….where are the mountains! It’s too flat, it’s too hot, it’s not home…we want to go home…lol…Yeah, mountains are in our blood! We love them! The crisp air, the ascent, the view once you reach the top…the view of them from afar that seems to cry home like the ringing of a bell…okay, sorry got a little sappy there….lol…

5. Which historical period is your favorite?

How about the Middle Ages, we know they’re also referred to as the Dark Ages…but…they were pretty interesting and cool…minus all the people who kept killing each other for power. We definitely wouldn’t want to live there, but we like learning about it and writing about it!

6. What was your last five-star read?

See question 4 above!

7. What is one food or drink everyone else likes but you despise?

Kayti, that would be bananas, unless it’s banana twin little Debbie’s so good! But other than that I hate bananas they’re all mushy….yuck.

Rissy, the oatsmeals….me no likes oatsmeals. *Sorry for the Gollum-ishness, watching The Hobbit…lol….*I had a lot of food allergies when I was younger and oatmeal was one of the only things I could eat so now I hate it…lol…

Jaidie *Rolls out list, what? I’m a little bit picky. Clears throat* Pineapple, too stringy. Rice, I just don’t like it. Long Coconut strands, short or finely chopped is fine long ones are like eating hair. Olives, they taste like feet. Raw tomatoes, just no. (Rissy here I don’t like raw tomatoes either!) Anything green except peas and fresh green beans, and crunch lettuce, has to be crunch and chopped fine or else it’s like it’s attacking you as you try to eat it. Oh, and I like cucumbers, wait, this about dislikes. Peppers, too…not sure but I don’t like them. And I have more but this would take a while so I shall leave. *Rolls up list and exits room with a flourish*

8. What is your favorite trope in books?

*What’s a trope? Kayti asks* All stare at each other and shrug….*we’ll come back to it once we look it up on google. Jaidie says.* *Why do they keep using words we don’t understand? Rissy Asks* *Kayti, I think because we’re behind our time.* All shrug and continue with list….

Okay, we looked it up! Our favorite tropes are the reluctant hero, just feels believable and really good! And the secret heir, The Green Ember Series sealed the deal for us on this one!

9. Which would you rather face: bear or shark?

Depends….do we have pepper spray, let’s go with bear. Do we have a boat, are we close to shore? Shark, of course….it just depends….really, we need to think this through… *Commences to think* You know how about neither. Yeah, that’d be great! We choose life today!!!

10. Winter or summer?

Winter! Winter might be cold and numb the fingers and nose but….a southern summer is soooooo humid!!!! It’s like living in a steamer basket! Or *pardon the gross image* a diaper. It is so sticky and slimey and just bleh all the time! Anyone who lives in the south and likes summer does not, we repeat does not go outside enough to know what it really feels like. We rest our case.

11. What is something you couldn’t be paid a million dollars to do?

Oh, this is easy….

Kayti, jump out of an airplane! What is with you people?! How do you just jump out of a perfectly good airplane! That is insane!!! Okay, done now…also denying Jesus, could not be bribed into that or any other potentially deadly situation.

Rissy, Deny my Lord or betray my sisters! (Skydiving sounds awesome to me! 😊 Minus I’m scared of heights, but whatever.) (Jaidie and Kayti here…No! You cannot jump out of a perfectly good airplane!!! WE forbid it!!!)

Jaidie, Jump out of an airplane, jump off anything really. Rock climb or get in the water with anything dangerous. 😊 Or get on a stage in front of a bunch of people, I would totally pass out. Unless of course, I had my besties! (Which include my sisters who might also pass out…and my friend Amber *Waves* On second thought, I think we’d all pass out together…lol…)

Okay, so we actually have been nominated two more times for this award….so, be on the lookout for our next Liebster Award post as that will have our nominations and questions in it!!!

For now, enjoy the week! (Jaidie will, Lord Willing, be posting something this Friday, though what that will be is still to be decided…lol….) Have a great one folks!!!

Bless!!!

NO my dear Heather!!! (Lol I get it though!) Ooo I can’t wait to read The Wars of the Realm series, Rissy… definitely on my to-read list. Oh Kayti I hate bananas too!!! We are kindred spirits!! 😀 I’m the only one in my family who doesn’t like them. I’m afraid I’m treated very poorly because of it. ;P 😦 LOL Jaidie, that’s a long list of food you don’t like… that’s so funny!

Haha yes, I’m afraid Google is my best friend when it comes to all this new lingo today like “WIP,” “ships,” etc. The reluctant hero IS a believable trope, that’s so true!!

This was so much fun to read, as always!! 😀 Looking forward to that post on Friday, Jaidie!! 😉 😀

“Resistance” and “Last of the Light”—definite 5 star reads!

Grammar makes total sense! (No, I’m not a grammar snob (actually, I am), no, I didn’t major in English (I did), and no, I don’t automatically, internally correct others’ abhorrent grammatical failings (I do), and no, I’m not a proud member of the Grammar Police and Protecting Oxford Comma Club (I am)).

Regarding the rules of writing, those are nebulous, and you’ll not find two “experts” who agree. For “said”, my advice is don’t use it every time, but don’t exterminate it from your writing. Find a balance you’re happy with. Going too far either way will ensure stilted, awkward writing which will irritate your readers. It takes time to find that balance, and even more time to find your writing voice. Don’t rush it. Read other books in multiple genres, write, write, write, and be intentional while writing, and it will come to you. ❤

Mountains! Definitely! I've been to the ocean twice. Not impressed. I'll take my beautiful (and at this time, snow-covered) mountains.

Totally agree with your trope selections. Not only are those fun to read, they're fun to write.

    Loved your answers!

Sharks are scary, but I'd much rather face a grizzly, and that's coming from someone who lives where grizzlies roam just on the other side of the mountain. Water has twelve times the resistance being on land does. Those aren't odds I'd want to deal with. Try to outswim a shark with 12x resistance or outrun a griz at forty miles an hour? Delightful predicaments I'd like to put my characters through.

      LOl…

Yep, they definitely never agree,…lol…Thanks for your advice!!!

Yes!!! Mountains!!! OOoo, snow-capped mountains!!! So pretty!!!! WE want!!! LOl…

      Thank you!!! Agreed!!! They are!!!

      Awww, thanks soooo much!!!!

Yeah, we don’t think the odds are good either way…so we’ll just try to avoid both the bears and the sharks….hahaha…

Great post, girls!! SKYDIVING WOULD BE BRILLIANT BY THE WAY I SO WANT TO TRY IT SOMEDAY!!!! And ooofff, I’d DEFINITELY rather face a bear than a shark. At least you can SEE the bear most of the time. XD

Thank you!!! *Jaidie and Kayti* No! No skydiving!!! *Rissy* We soooo should!!!!!
Unless it’s nighttime, then you can’t see the bear….but we’d go with the bear unless the shark was in deep water and we were in the shallow water and could get away quickly, the best thing would be neither…lol…

Great answers! Russian tea sounds so yummy. I need to try to make that sometime. Do you all have a special recipe?

And there are so many amazing Bible verses … that was a hard question. 🙂
