One Line Story Challenge!

Hey folks! Hope everyone is doing well! It’s the New Year!!!! Yay!!! 2022 here we come!!! Anyway, we got tagged for this a while back by Joelle over at The Pen Inspired, and then we got tagged again by Vanessa Hall the other day…and then again by Twi and Louise over at Bookish Productions….so, we decided to end procrastination and do this tag!!!

Gonna be honest this was a hard tag! A very hard tag and we might have broken the rules a few times…but anyway here are the rules!

Rules

  • Thank the person who nominated you. (Thank you to Joelle, Vanessa, and Twi and Louise! We’re gonna give this a try…lol…)
  • Write 5 single line stories that fall under any of these genres (you can pick which ones you do!):
    • Fantasy (Yes please!)
    • Romance (Ew, but maybe)
    • Thriller (Eehhh, let’s see what else we have…)
    • Mystery (No…well, maybe)
    • Western (nah…)
    • Contemporary (Ooo, fun!)
    • Historical (No, not feeling)
    • Drama (No…big no…)
    • Dystopian (Gonna need to look that up, give us a sec….Oh, okay….future books…got it….might do this one….)
    • Adventure (Ooo, we love adventure!)
    • sci-fi (Sci-fi is fun!)
    • paranormal (no….not our style)
    • young adult (hmm, yeah…not sure what we would do with this one…lol…)
  • You can choose 5 genres that’s easiest for you, or you can challenge yourself to try something new!
  • Nominate 5 blogger/writers who you’d love to see participate and leave an open nomination for all writers!
  • You can do this challenge more than once.

Okay, so we picked seven…hahaha….but there are three of us…sooo, we’re just gonna do all seven…lol….we like breaking rules, okay. At least rules that if they’re broken it doesn’t hurt anyone….so here goes nothing!

Also, sorry ahead for the bad grammar…writing one sentence stories is hard.

Fantasy:

Kayti – I had never believed dragons were real, rumor said they had gone extinct in Avaria years ago but it’s kind of hard not to believe in something when it’s standing in front of you. (Whew, that was hard!)

Rissy – My blood grew completely cold as I stood in front of the beast of all beasts. (Yes, I did it! Boom ya!)

Jaidie – I leaned against the wall breathing hard, I glanced down at my smoking hands, what had I just done? Maybe my uncle was right, maybe I was a monster. (Okay, so maybe that was two sentences, but hey, don’t judge…lol…)

Romance:

Kayti – My hand shook as I stepped away from Maverick, I knew I loved him but I was afraid he didn’t love me the same way. (Argh, I want to keep going but I only get a sentence *pouty face*)

Rissy – I never expected to fall in love and yet here I was, standing face to face with the one girl I loved most in this world. (ew, what’s wrong with me…I don’t even like romance…)

Jaidie – I felt funny around her, something that I usually never felt, was it love? Whatever it was it didn’t matter, we could never be together, I would never step inside a church again, not even for love. (Boom! Yes, I just did that…and yes it’s two sentences again….lol…)

Thriller:

Kayti – Pressing a hand to my side I felt the warmth seeping through my coat, I cast a look over my shoulder and saw them coming, coming to finish me. (Yargh, now I want to write this book!)

Rissy – The loud sound of a gunshot spilt the air between me and him. (This is my kind of style. Geez, that’s a sad song playing right now….excuse me.)

Jaidie – Dodging bullets wasn’t something I’d ever wanted to do, but lately it had become something I did daily, and I didn’t even know what I had done to these guys. (Hey, this could work for Edmund! Who’s Edmund….well, he’s one of my OC’s…hahaha….excuse while I make note of this somewhere *frantically searching through cluttered desk for a notebook*).

Mystery:

Kayti – The floor creaked, my head snapped up but nothing was there; the room was eerily quiet and yet I knew someone was there. (Tah-dah! This kind of creeps me out though…lol…)

Rissy – I had always wondered who the man was behind my father’s death. (I’m a genius…hahaha…)

Jaidie – I knew it wasn’t just an accident, I just knew it couldn’t have been an accident, no someone had done this. (This isn’t my thing…*insert crying faces*)

Contemporary:

Kayti – That touch isn’t just a touch to me anymore, it’s the seat belt slamming into my chest cutting into my neck; it’s part of the wreck, part of the nightmare. (Sorry, this is sad…it’s part of one of my WIP’s an MG contemporary about a boy named Ally, said Al-lye.)

Rissy – Cameron hung up, he was known for doing that, though I didn’t know if he actually hung up or if he always hit the button on accident, guess it didn’t really matter. (Wow, longest one yet! Lol…it’s from a WIP I haven’t worked on in forever and need to work on, man I miss Alex he was fun…lol..)

Jaidie – And the question that I found myself asking a thousand times a day, did he even know he had a brother? (From my WIP Brothers Divided!!! It’s about Diego and Steffeno, this is taken from Diego’s thoughts. 😊)

Adventure:

Kayti – Reaching up I grasped the next ledge, my fingers stinging against the sharp rocks, looking down I gulped. (Feels completely incomplete, yay! Now I have another book idea…haha…that was sarcasm by the way 😉)

Rissy – I did the only thing I knew to do and that was to jump off the edge of fear. (Yay!!! I did it!!!)

Jaidie – Running, lungs burning, legs aching, but I did not stop, I couldn’t stop or they’d get me. (Man, what’s going on? Guess I’ll have to write it to find out…lol…)

Sci-Fi:

Kayti – “Time travel is impossible!” I screamed even though I stood in the days of yester. (Oh, shortest one yet! Yay! This seems promising too…lol…)

Rissy – Pain crept through my body as I was sucked into Time. (Wow! This sounds interesting….where am I getting this stuff…lol…)

Jaidie – Ever since I came here weird things have been happening to me, things I couldn’t explain, but I knew who could. (Hm, I’m pretty proud of that…didn’t think Sci-fi was gonna work for me…lol…)

Woohooooo!!! We did it!!!! Yay!!!! Okay, so that was fun and now we have like more book ideas which are distracting and probably not a good thing but oh well….lol…We’re supposed to tag five bloggers or writers…hmm….

How about…

You

You

You

You

And…

You!

Yep, we just did that and now we’re done…lol…excuse us while we go write these ideas down….hahaha…our brains are working overtime right…goodbye all!!!!

(Hey, different day…but we have an awesome announcement!!! Our dear friend Saraina just launched her blog on New Year’s!!!! We’re so excited for her!!! So here’s the link if you want to check it out, which we recommend you do! https://sarainawhitney.wordpress.com/ Her inspiration page is awesome!!)

Sisters Three

Published by Sisters Three

Hi, we're Kayti, Rissy, and Jaidie, a writing trio of sisters, living in the Southern Appalachians of Western North Carolina. The three of us are as thick as thieves as they say, whoever "they" are. We have four older siblings, a controlling German Shorthaired Pointer named Ruger, and a Mini Lop rabbit named Smallsy-Jo. We're homeschooled by our amazing mom and our dad is a pastor and avid plant hunter. Our dad encouraged us to start writing after he heard an elaborate story we made up, so we started writing things down, and eventually the things we wrote down actually made sense and now we're writers! Or aspiring writers anyway.

  1. Oooh I love all of your lines!!! ❤ Lol Rissy, you did great with the romance one even though you didn't like it 😉 😀 And Kayti I LOVE your sci-fi one… oof I can just feel that person's shock and fear upon finding that time travel is possible!! (That would be me in that situation, I suspect. Haha!) That was a great idea to base some of your lines off WIPs you have. Eeee I want to hear more about Edmund, Jaidie! 😉 Fabulous post!! 😀 (I was so excited to read this since I knew you all had been tagged lol…)

  4. That was just so much fun! I feel like you all are pros at thriller/adventure stories! And I find it hilarious how many people utterly despise the romance prompt – but I thought you guys did well! 🙂

Also, Saraina’s blog is so lovely! 🙂
